Who is Max the Punisher's Dog?
Max is a Marvel character who is the dog of the vigilante the Punisher.

First  Appearance:  Punisher War Zone #37

      Species:  Canine ( Rottweiler)

      Bio:
Max is an guard dog that was rescued by the Punisher, Frank Castle and used as a guard dog of his safe houses.  The dog is massive and violent and terrifies almost everyone but Frank.  The dog was initially a guard dog at Empire Check Cashing but a group of punks killed the stores owner.  Max chased down the punks for blocks and through buildings.  The dog kills almost the entire group with only two left alive, but before he can take him down the roof of the building he is on collapses.  Max is injured and trapped beneath debris.  The Punisher sees this kills one of the last punks, then knocks the last one to Max who quickly ends him.   Max has greatly endeared himself to Frank Castle for basically being a canine version of himself.  As the dog had gone to the "Maximum" to take down the punks, Frank names him "Max".

Frank sets up Max as a guard dog of one his safe houses.  The dog has a collar that unlocks a doggy door specially designed for him.  The door will not open for any other animal or person.

In Punisher Armory #7, Frank still must be careful around Max, something that he elaborates on:
"Max started off our relationship by tooth-testing my arm and leg. Luckily, we'd both had our shots. After we became more friendly, he still tried to get me; which makes me think he acquired a taste for me. You never quite knew where his rough-housing ended and his lethal attack began. ....Micro had a theory that I got him all these chew toys 'cause I liked him; Naaah, I was just hoping to tire his jaws before he got to me."
The Safehouse Max is in is entered by George Wong an agent of the Kingpin.  The two fight, and both break apart baddly wounded.  Frank finds him and in a controversial panel pulls out a knife.  It is unclear if in the panel he was putting down Max or performing surgury on him.  Later, it is revealed that the dog is alive and Frank performed surgery on him.

      http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/marveldatabase/images/0/00/Max_in_The_Punisher_War_Journal_Vol_1_59.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20150731001413

Max appears again in Punisher, Warjournal.   Frank brings a police detective Lynn Micheals to one of his safe houses.  There he shows the extensive level of booby trapping that goes into one of his homes  the final guard of the house is Max.  A gang called the Ghetto Rangers learns that the Punisher has entered in the house and decide to invade it.  They hope to either kill the Punisher there or wait for him.  The gang is largely decimated by a claymore, electrocuting light switch and other traps, the final few members are attacked and killed by Max.  Max tackles the last one through the window.  Biggs, the leader of the Ghetto Rangers gang is waiting outside and is impressed by Max, he knocks him out and kidnaps him.

When Castle returns to his safe house at the end of the comic he proclaims:
"They took my dog. I can't make them dead enough."

Castle tracks down Biggs but learns that the gang leader was unable to train Max and traded him dog fighting operation in Jersey.  A man named Billy began using Max in fights.  He used a taser to keep the dog incapacitated when not fighting.  Castle begins cutting his way through all of the dog fighting operations in Jersey. Castle breaks into a fight shortly after Max kills a dog in the fight.  He shoots through the various dog fighters.  The trainer Billy falls into the arena where Max attacks him and kills him.  Max and Punisher both covered in blood reunite in the arena and Castle brings the big beast home.

      http://www.marvunapp.com/Appendix/maxrottw3.jpg

      Power:
Much like his owner Frank Castle, Max has no super powers.  He is just big, stubborn, vicious and all around mean.

      MCU:
New pictures from JustJared a battered Frank Castle confronts a pair of thugs.  Some have speculated they may have stolen a dog.

Could this dog be a version of Max?

      Microchip Bio:

Microchip is not a hardened fighter like other other super heroes in the Marvel universe and has no true super powers. He actually is generally shown as overweight and often mentions struggling to lose weight (Even once going to a fat camp).  He does however posessess a wide variety of practical espionage and computer skills he uses to fight crime.  Microchip is a legendary hacker who has done a variety of feats that are well known to the hacking community. He works on a variety of cons and scams but he ends up getting too close to high level criminals. He goes into retirment from the hacking business taking up an identity as an unassuming businessman.

Microchip pulls himself out of retirment when his nephew killed. Microchip's nephew had followed his notorious uncle's footsteps and had hacked into the private computers of the Kingpin. The Kingpin had then located him and had him killed. Microchip begins investigating the murder and the Kingpin's criminal network which eventually leads him into crossing paths with Frank Castle aka the Punisher. Microchip quickly becomes an invaluable partner to Frank's war on crime. He uses a his skills to help the Punisher with cyber investigations, hacking, laundering money, setting up safe houses, and procurement. Castle manages to get his hands on lots of cash money, and weapons. Micro though is the one that establishes methods of laundering that money so that it is untraceable and useable. He also finds ways to untraceably purchase computer hardware, guns, bombs, and ammunition that the Punisher uses on his war on crime. Through it all Microchip is less obssessed with Castle's mission but serves more out of respect to Castle. He becomes a close friend to Castle and becomes the equivalent of a counselor urging Castle to take mental health breaks.

Microchip at times takes things into his own hands. He fights an assassination ring threating his godson's family. He destroys a fake charity that is threatening a neighbor by sending a recording of the administrators plans out to a large network of yodeling fans.

The Kingpin captures of Microchip to use him as a hostage. He then orders the Punisher to kill a rival gangster and sends Microchip's pinky finger as part of the blackmail. Punisher kills the gangster and Microchip is released.

Punisher ends up getting in a disagreement with Microchip over his therapy. Microchip begins acting in a local theatre to ease himself into public life. Frank feels that this puts Microchip into needless danger and the two part company. Microchip then goes into hiding working as a barkeep. For a time Microchip works with a former Maffiaso named Mickey Fondozzi and the two infilitrate the Secret Empire.

The Punisher and Microchip meet after Microchip has handpicked a new man to take up the Punisher mantle.  He selects a former Navy Seal member named Carlos Cruz.  Microchip feels that Castle has become too mentally unstable to maintain his Punisher persona and increasingly going too far in war on crime.  This makes Punisher extremely angry at his old friend.  He sees this operation as endangering his own war on crime.  The two factions have a gun battle in one of Micro's new safe houses.  This battle is broken up by a rogue vigalante hunting SHIELD agent named Derek "Stone Cold" Smalls who fires a rocket that ends up killing Microchip.  Frank leaves scene wondering if he had it in him to kill Microchip himself.

Microchip is brought back to life by the Hood.  The Hood promises to bring back both his and Frank's family but  GW Bridge's life must be sacrificed as part of the ritual.  Microchip ends up shooting G.W. Bridge in the head.  While this does bring back the corpses the Punisher does not see them as his true family and destroys all the bodies by forcing the villain Firebrand to do it.  He then kills Firebrand.

The Punisher kills Microchip by cutting his throat when offered the chance by Jigsaw.
      Microchip Skills and Powers:
Micro is a technical wizard with skills in programing and hacking.  He also is maven of consipiracies and is used as source of intel by both Skye/Daisy Johnson and Frank Castle.

      Microchip Skills:

      • Highly advanced hacker
      • Espionage expert
      • Weapons expert
      • Mechanic
      • Laundering money
      • Setting up safe houses
      • Managing data and intel, and cyber investigation

      MCU:

Micro is a character that will appear in Punisher.  There have also been a few mentions of Micro in other Marvel shows.  Micro is played by actor Ebon Moss-Bachrach.  Microchip also appeared as a character in the film Punisher Warzone (2008) where he was played by actor Wayne Knight.

      Early Easter Eggs of Micro:
Micro was mentioned as a contact of Skye in Agents of SHIELD season 2 episode 7"Writing on the Wall".
      Skye to Coulson about Micro:
"One of my sources, this guy Micro, he's kind of a crime-scene junkie. He came across something."
Micro was said to be one of Skye's "Rising Tide" hacking contacts.  When Coulson was attempting to decrypt symbols left by John Garret, Skye turned to her Rising Tide contacts.  Micro sent a message to Skye that similar symbols were carved into a corpse in a murder in Rhinebeck, New York.

A CD with the words MICRO on it was shown in the possession of Frank Castle in Daredevil Season 2.  Before burning down his old family home Frank Castle retrieves a picture showing his former Unite States Armed Forces Platoon.  He breaks the picture and pulls out a disc with the words "MICRO" on it.  Presumably the disk has the means of contacting MICRO.

Pietro Maximoff along with his twin sister the Scarlet Witch are the offspring of Magneto.  Magneto does not know of their existence while they are being raised.  The story of their birth is a little weird.  It involves the twins being born amongst the New Men of Wundagore mountain who are basically part animal and part human people.  They hide the twins with a family called the Maximoffs.  There is also a demon that has a presence near Wundagore mountain and he gives the Scarlet Witch magical powers. Both twins also develop mutant powers.  Quick Silver develops super speed and Scarlet Witch gains the mutant power of hexing (altering probability).  While, they do not know their father, they end up joining his group the evil brotherhood of mutants.

      Scarlet Witch first appearance
The twins never are very evil though and part with the group rather quickly and join the Avengers.

Super speed - Can run at speeds up to Mach 10

Darth Tenebrous is a Sith Lord famous for training Darth Plageuis and for initiating a plan that led to the creation of Anakin Skywalker.  He was obsessed with immortality and shaping the future toward the darkside.  Much of plans for the Empire began with Tenebrous.

      Real Name:  Rugess Nome

      Species: Bith

      Born: 167 BBY

      Death: 67 BBY

Apprentices:  Darth Plagueis, and Darth Venamis

Canon: It is unknown of Tenebrous is within the canon of the Star Wars ongoing continuity.  While Plagueis is mentioned in Episode III, Tenebrous is not.

      Darth Tenebrous News:

      Darth Tenebrous Multi-Media:

      Darth Tenebrous Bio:
Rugess Nome was a famous starship designer and scientist before meeting a Sith lord.  It is thought that Tenebrous was not as biologically adept at the force as many other Sith but was selected due to his scientific acumen.  Eventually, he would take on the mantle of Darth Tenebrous.  Even while acting as a Sith Lord he maintained his persona as ship designer which gave him access to many nodes of power within the galaxy.

Darth Tenebrous served the beneath a mysterious Twi'lek Sith Lord.  This Sith Lord worked on what he called a grand plan that was to construct a virus that would block Jedi's connection to the force.    This plan ended in failure and eventually Tenebrous slew his master when he felt he had learned everything his master knew.

      http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/villains/images/2/2a/528px-DarthTandP.jpg/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/180?cb=20120516165931

On his own Tenebrous began to create a new darkside philosophy where it was seen scientifically as an energy source as opposed to a force of moral malevolence. Tenebrous was always very forward looking and so planned the birth of his first apprentice by manipulating a man to meeting his future wife.  The pairing Tenebrous had calculated would result in the creation of a child powerful in the force.  When the child, Hego Damask turned 5 he went to live with Darth Tenebrous.  Hego Damask became his apprentice and took on the mantle of Darth Plagueis.

Tenebrous began to work on a grand plan of his own design.  He and Plagueis began to study the genetics that led to one being powerful with the force.  They began conducting experiments where areas were bombarded with force inducing energy that was meant to create powerful force users.  Tenebrous also studied how to move his mind between bodies with his end goal being to create a powerful chosen one, whose body he could take for his own and live forever in.

Tenebrous begins to view Plagueis as intelligent but weak.  He begins to train a young Bith in the ways of the force behind Plagueis's back named DarthVenamis.    He delegates the research aspects of his plan to Plagueis, while training the other apprentice in combat.  Little does he know that Plagueis is also studying other force powers behind his Masters back.  Tenebrous foresaw his own death at the hands of Plagueis but created a countermeasure.  In his mind and force abilities would move into Plagueis and slowly take control of his apprentice's power of foresight and take him over.  While this does happen Tenebrous is horrified to learn that Plagueis own death is near and that he will never be able to move his body into the chose one.  This horror causes to Tenebrous to flee the body of his apprentice and become trapped in the corpse body of his mummy...possibly forever.

      Star Wars Speculation:
Could Darth Tenebrous be Lord Snoke?  Tenebrous was obsessed with immortality and had found the means of moving his mind through a virus between bodies.  It is suggested that his mind never infact died but became trapped in his original corpse.  It is possible that after a time his mind gave up on the idea of taking over the chosen one (Anakin Skywalker) and instead began to rebuild his damaged corpse.  This could the simultaneous vast knowledge and great weakness of Supreme Leader Snoke.

One reason this theory is weak is that Snoke does not appear to be a Bith.  However, Tenebrous was capable of moving his mind between bodies he may have found a body of another species weak enough for him to control.

Ozobots are little robots that are designed to be played with and used socially.  They also teach coding through a tiered approach.  They have a variety of cool aspects to them.
If I were to explain Ozobot I would compare it to the Sphero BB8 droid but one that has a lot more flexability and a focus on coding / stem learning.

      Company's Official Description about Ozobots:

Ozobots are smart, small and social robots that teach the creative side of coding through a unique color command language and block-based programming.

Start with paper and markers and get creative with color codes. You may choose green-red-green-red to make Ozobot spin, or a variety of other fun color combinations.

Next, graduate to our block-based programming language with OzoBlockly. Build a sequence of codes together to make Ozobot act out your commands.

Toylab is proud to be an Amazon Affiliate Website which allows us to connect our site directly to the products we love so our readers can find them with a single click.  Check out these Ozomobot products below for the Robot lover in your family.

      Lets talk about Ozobot!
Lets go through a few things I really like about them:  There is an awful lot to like about these Robots.  They are a lot of fun and really flexible.
      • Tiered Learning Approach - Of all the cool things about Ozobot the tiered learning approach is something I am going to highlight.  Ozobot has different layers of coding that start out beautifully simple for beginners.  The first commands you learn to give Ozobot are simply from using different colors of markers that it follows and takes commands from.  The 2nd layer is from its own block laungauge called OzoBlockly.  With OzoBlockly users can really get pretty advanced with their coding.  The final layer is that the mobile app has its levels of customization.  As users of the bot figure out the first layer they can move on to the 2nd layer, then the 3rd.  This tiered approach means the product is great for a wide range of skill levels.  It also helps take a beginner in Coding master a wide variety of coding skills.
      • Fun Flexibility - This is a toy that can be integrated into lots of games.  You could use it as a race car, as board game piece, you can send through a labyrinth.  You can also do creative projects like building a city map, or a Maze that really change how you interact with the toy.
      • Social Capabilities Ozogies and Social connections-  This is something I have not seen other robots do.  The app to Ozobot allows it to send out emotions  and also allows you to communicate with friends you have on the app.  I really have only played with this feature a little but feel that it opens a door to whole new universe that people are just starting to figure out.
      • Real and Digital World - Ozobot can be interfaced through paper and markers or through digital applications.
      • Scalebility - You can continue to buy Ozobot items from learning guides, to maps, skins and evne more Ozobots.  There is also a near infinite amount of stuff you can make yourself to have fun with the Ozobot.
      • Skins - THE AVENGERS - Ths Toylab blog has primarily been a Marvel blog since its inception so its very cool to see Ozobot have this deal with Marvel.  There are a group of Ozobots that come with their own Marvel character skin.  You can set up your Ozobots to have a little automated play battle with each other.  Its pretty cool and opens yet another door for how you can interact and play with this toy.

So what can you do with Ozobot?

      Answer = A lot!

Ive watched a many review videos of Ozobot.  My favorite one is this one by VideoGameheat that reviews the Ozobot Evo Bot "Iron Man".  This is a specific Ozobot you can purchase.

      Problems:
I really like this toy, its one of the toys that is fun to think of different ways you can use it.  Not many toys can you sit around and just ponder how many ways can I use this and Ozobot really does that to you.  If you pressed me on issues here is what I would say:

      Defies Classification:
This is going to sound silly but when I get asked what Ozobot does I end up spewing a long list of stuff.  You can race them, make them go through mazes, do social stuff with them, learn to code yada yada and somewhere through my explanation people get this glazed over look.  Ozobots can be used in a lot of different ways and it is their strength.  However, sometimes people just want a racing toy or a stem toy.  This is a toy can sit in all of these categories but that can get it overlooked.  Even though the Ozobot is really simple to get going, a lot of people hear the laundry list of things it can do and also feel like it is going to be really confusing.

      Price:
The Ozobot starter packs are about $60.  That is not too bad so I hestitate to call it out but I will say that if you want to have a race between 3 Ozobots then the cost goes up a lot.  A lot of fun can be had with Multiple Ozobots interacting and that is where the price tag gets a little steep.  I would love to see a set of 3 Ozobots for 80 bucks but I have not seen it yet. So beware of this as you kid may turn around and ask for a 2nd or 3rd Ozobot right after you buy the first.
One way around this is for your friend to buy an Ozobot too so they can play together with it.

      Small/Lost Breakable
Ozobot is pretty small and it can be broken like most electronic equipment.  I would not recommend this toy for toddlers.  You will also want to be aware of little brother and little sisters or that crazy tornado of destruction friend who will all be interested in Ozobot but could also destroy or lose it.  If you have a toddler and want a stem toy I would recommend the Code-A-Pillar see the article link to this toy below.

Easter Eggs in the Punisher series

The Punisher series in my opinion is the first series to rival the first Daredevil season in terms of quality.  The characters all have depth, no episode is wasted, and there is sense of watching something new and relevant.  This show does not shy away from its violent material but it also avoids taking it down the path of cartoonish violence.  People die in this show but almost always with meaning.  While the Punisher does not connect much in the MCU besides itself it does contain many winks and nods to Punisher comics.

Wan to know which events in the series were inspired by the comic stories?

Want to know how the characters compare to the comic counterparts?

Want to know how the Punisher connects to the MCU at large?

      Spoiler Warning!
There are quite a few Spoilers in this post so if you have not seen the whole series go and do that first!

With that said lets begin our Punisher Easter Egg hunt!

      Killed in a Bathroom Stall:

In the beginning of the series the Punisher walks in on a target as he goes to the restroom at an Airport.  This is actually how he kills the series baddie Rawlins in the comics.  In the comics, the Punisher tracks down Rawlins at an airport in Kabul.  He then corners him in the restroom and kills him there.
The death early in the series seems to play homage to this scene when Frank kills one of the last remaining men connected to  the death of his family.  The tone of the scene being some what humorous was very much in line with the dark humor used through the Garth Ennis run of the Punisher.

      Severed Head
In Episode 10 of the Punisher, Frank uses a severed head to scare away his enemies.  This is similar to how he uses the severed head of the Russian to scare away.   Episode 10 also featured a variety of death that felt very Garth Ennis inspired.

      MCU Connections
There are not a lot of connections to the MCU at large in the series but a few characters from the Netflix Defenders series do cross over here.  Karen Woll and Turk Barrett both make appearances here.  Karen shows up a few times in the series and helps Frank information on Micro and his enemies.

      The Gnuccis:
In the first episode of the Punisher, the dumb and dumber criminals that work with Frank on the construction site have an ingenuis idea of knocking off a high stakes poker game run by the Gnucci crime family.  This robbery fiasco has Frank coming to the rescue of one of his coworkers.  The Gnucci's are italian family of gangsters that seem to still be operating strong after the Punisher went through and killed some of their competition.  The Punisher took out a good chunk of the 3 gangs that were involved in his family's murder including the Kitchen Irish, The Cartels and the biker gang the Dogs of Hell.  The Gnucci's however don't seem to run afoul of the Punisher until the robbery of the Poker game.  Knowing that the Gnucci's will be hunting down who was behind the heist the Punisher ambushes those at the game and eliminates everyone there.

The Gnuccis are a big part of the comic story called "Welcome Back Frank" that the brought the Punisher back into comics after a hiatus.  The last line uttered in first episode was also "Welcome Back Frank." This is a major Punisher story that is still loved by fans.   The main villain in the story is Ma Gnucci the ruthless leader of the Gnucci family who wants revenge on Castle.  Another villain who makes his appearance in the story is the ruthless mercenary the Russian which leads to one of the biggest throwdowns in Punisher history.

The Gnucci's were not added as a simple wink, those guys will be back and likely very angry at Castle for attacking them.

      Rawlins.
Rawlins is almost exactly like his comic counterpart.  Both are douschy and corrupt CIA officers who try to use their connections to take down the Punisher.
The way Rawlin's loses an eye is also similar with him losing the eye in the comics and the TV series due to Frank
One difference between the comic version and TV version is that Punisher had a love interest in the comics that was Rawlin's ex wife.  Rawlin's had left her for dead in a mission and the woman scorned helped Frank take down her former beau.

      Curtis:
Curtis does appear in the comics.  Curtis Hoyle first appears in the series The Punisher #1 by Mike Baron and Klaus Janson in 1987.   While the Curtis we meet in the show is a good guy his comic counterpart is not nearly so nice.

Pete Castilegone and The Sicilian Saga

In the beginning of the series Frank reveals he is using the alias of "Pete Castiglione". Castilglione is the Italian word for Castle and this name is used in a variety of comic stories related to the Punisher.

An older version of the Punisher is revealed to have existed in the story "The Punisher: Circle of Blood" this pre-America version of the character had the name of Castilegone.

In the story"The Sicilian Saga." within Punisher War Journal by Mike Baron Frank is forced to lye low in Scilly after killing the son of corrupt politician Senator Stan Ori. While lying low there he comes into conflict with the local crime family the Besucchos.

The show references this story a couple of other times. Senator Stan Ori appears as a minor character in the series as a wink to this story. Frank also mentions that both his Grandma and Wife were Sicilian which is likely the reason he chose the Italianized version of his name as a cover.

      Billy Russo  (SPOILERS)

The Punisher series is very stealthy about hiding one of Punisher's most famous villains in Billy Russo.  For a bulk of the series Billy seems like a good guy and friend of the Punisher and at times I even debated if this version was destined to become something different.  About midway through the series though it becomes clear good ol' Billy has a dark side and comic fans know that he is about to get a lot darker.

Billy Russo later known as "Jigsaw" is the Punisher's most infamous villain.  So infamous that we ranked him #1 in the list of Punisher's Top 10 villains.  Billy being handsome and being referred to in the comics as the Beaut are all consistent with his comic counterpart.  The Punisher decides in the comics that ruining Billy's face by throwing him face first threw a window is better Punishment for beautiful Billy than killing him.  This ruins Billy's face but he returns with his own forms of vengance.

I want to write more on this one but I feel that it just gives too much away.  Pretty much anything I write here is a spoiler.  However, I'd say they clearly set up some villains to use for Season 2 of the Punisher with both Jigsaw and the Gnuccis having reasons to go after Frank.

      Valley Forge

Valley Forge this is the final story that ended the run of the Punisher Max Line.  In this story Frank was forced to ask tough questions about his admiration for the military and also how the military could be used for ill.  In partciular when abused by corrupt politicians or government agents.

Rawlins is one of the major villains in the preceding stories of Man of Stone, Up is Down and Black is White, and Mother Russia.  Frank kills Rawlins before Valley Forge but a video of Rawlins confessing to setting up a dirty op using military personnel does appear in the story.

A lot of the Punisher Netflix series borrows events, villains and certainly themes from the Valley Forge story line.  In particular, when Castle was forced to break into the military base and showed concern about potentially killing America service men this had great similarities with his actions and thoughts in Valley Forge.

      "Micro"
Micro is a major ally in the comics much in the same way he is in the series.  The Micro in the comics was older, fatter and far less cool than the one depicted in this series.  His origin also did not tie into the death of Frank's family.  The Micro in the comics was a computer hacking criminal who wanted to get revenge on the Kingpin Wilson Fisk after his nephew had been murdered for hacking into the Kingpin's servers.  Wanting to get revenge on Fisk, Micro offered his various skills to the Punisher who eagerly used them to take down the Kingpin and other criminals.

There is another character in Punisher comics called Roth that the TV series may have been inspired by.  In the story Up is Down and Black is White, Frank is aided by an ex CIA hacker named Roth along with another CIA Agent Kathryn O Brien to take down Rawlins.

In the comics the two have a bad falling out which ends with the death of Microchip.

      Spray Painted Skull

In the original Punisher film staring Dolph Lundren there was a planned scene for Dolph to spray paint a skull the Punisher symbol onto some tactical armor and use it in the film's climax.  This never happened and many fans have panned the movie for never letting him wear his iconic symbol.   Late in the Punisher season Frank spray paints the Skull on tactical armor and wears it.

It is hard to know whether this was intended to be inspired from the rumored scene in the original.  In my mind though that certainly helped correct a wrong of Comic Book Movies past.

These were the major easter eggs we caught in the series if you see anything else let us know at ToylabHQ@gmail.com or in the comments below.

Evil Luke Skywalker / Kylo Ren theory - Spoiler Warning

When Luke Skywalker did not appear in the poster for Star Wars: The Force Awakens people went nuts.  Where is Luke?  Then people began to ask, what if Luke is Kylo Ren?

I have looked at a lot of Star Wars rumors, and read all of kinds of things.  I do not think Luke is Kylo Ren, however I do think it is possible that Luke is now evil.

While Luke did not seem evil in Force Awakens and the bad guys seem to be afraid of Luke could there be more to it?  Could Luke represent a different kind of Dark Side?

There are definetly a few items that are appearing in current Marvel/Star Wars comics that are dropping hints about Luke.  One is the force trees he finds in the star wars comics, the other is the current series of Darth Vader that is focusing on the Kyber crystal of Darth Vader.

      Update:
Funko just released its first image of Luke as a Funko Pop is it possible that he is now evil?  Well he is wearing a red Kyber crystal that is often associated with the Dark Side of the Force.

I think this crystal is the Kyber crstal of Darth Vader.  From the current series in Darth Vader (See Darth Vader #4-5 2017) Vader is tasked at getting a crystal from a Jedi he slays.  He chooses to target one of the most powerful Jedi he can find Kirak Infil'a. This story is not finished yet but it seems likely that  Darth Vader's saber is fashioned after this crystal.  This could point toward Luke not being light or dark but rather a kind of grayish force user.

That said there is more evidence that he is a full on dark side user.  Keep reading about the importance of the Force Trees.

      Luke is Evil Theory:
The Luke is evil theory does have more legs than him simply being Kylo Ren.  Hamill himself pitched the idea of an Luke to JJ Abrams.

      It all about dem trees!
Now we are going to talk about trees.  Yes Trees!

Another piece of evidence comes from the comic Shattered Empire.  I mention the series in the post about Poe Dameron.

This series really is the last place chronologically where we see Lukein a story that legitimately ties into Star Wars: The Force Awakens.  This is Luke in action post Return of the Jedi.  Here Luke along with Poe Dameron's mother Shara Bey break into an Imperial facility to steal two trees.  These trees are revealed to be the trees from the Jedi Temple at Coruscant.  They were deemed important by Palpatine and thus preserved.  Luke himself states that the Force is in the trees.

Luke says that his meeting with Shara Bey is not a coincidence that they were brought together by the force here to do something important.  At the end of the series:

One tree is taken by Shara Bey and planted at her home where Poe Dameron grows up.

The other tree is taken by Luke.  Most presume he is going to use it to restart the Jedi Order,

      But consider this...

In Star Wars there is always a duality.  There is always Force character who fights for the lightside and one on the Darkside.   There are TWO trees.  Duality would dictate that one of the trees ends up in the hands of Lightside and one with the Darkside.

If the tree planted at Dameron's home is serving the lightside, then Luke's tree is now serving the darkside.

      https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CSA1xsdVAAAjn3f.jpg

The Knights of Ren in many ways seem to be the most organized and knowledgeable Force using characters.  Why is this?  Luke was the only Jedi left standing in Return of the Jedi.   If he recreated the Jedi Order then where are they?  It seems increasingly plausible that whatever he created, for whatever reason became the Knights of Ren.

Who is Luke Skywalker?  Is he Ren?  Is he Supreme Leader Snoke?  Or is he simply Luke Skywalker but ......bad.  I'm not sure.  It does however seem plausible that he is not good.

Who is Barbatos in Dark Knight's Metal

DC Metal's is going to unleash host of bizarre and evil Batmen on the DC universe but leading them all is the events Big Bad, a demon named Barbatos that has deep ties to Batman himself.  After reading Metal (Which is awesome by the way).  You may ask yourself the question.

      WHO IS BARBATOS?

      Facts about Barbatos:
In Dark Night City the vision of Barbatos was literally that of a phantom bat but it is hard to know exactly what he will look like in Metal.

Here is what we can glean about Barbatos:
      • It seems that Barbatos has a special connection to the Waynes family that seems to go back generations.
      • Barbatos is a demon or immortal type of entity.
      • Barbatos is tied to the Dark Universe and also the Nth Metal.
      • Barbatos was mentioned/shown in a 1990s story called Dark City.
      • The Barbatos is derived from the word Barbarus and AES "Foriegn Metal" (Lady Dark Hawk Metal #1)
Barbatos is also a demonic figure mentioned in various sorces:  From Wikipedia:
In demonology, Barbatos is an earl and duke of Hell, ruling thirty legions of demons and has four kings as his companions to command his legions. He can speak to animals, can tell the future, conciliates friends and rulers, and can lead men to treasure hidden by the enchantment of magicians.
His name derives from Latin barbatus, meaning “bearded, old man of the demon of hell, philosopher”.
He is the 8th demon in The Lesser Key of Solomon, while Pseudomonarchia Daemonum lists him as the 6th demon. He is also mentioned in Grand Grimoire as subordinate of Satanachia.

DC Metal revealed that Hawkman had been researching the Nth Metal over many generations and come to the conclusion that it was tied to a dark entity known as Barbatos.  This Barbotos is an ancient entity whose origins go back to the ancient times of the DC Universe.  This Barbatos is the leader or big bad behind an array of evil Batman that are coming to attack the DC Universe.  Barbatos and his forces are thought to come from the Dark Universe, outside of the 52 main DC universes.

Metal discusses how going back to antiquity were three main tribes when a big dark 4th tribe came to battle them.  Presumably the 4th tribe is the "Bat" tribe.  The Bird and Bat tribe have battled throughout the centuries.  This is one reason why Batman is surrounded by many Bird characters like Robin, Penguin and the Court of the Owls.  The Nth Metal that creates bizarre and unnatural powers is said to get its energy from the dark universe in which the leader of the Bat Tribe resides.  The Nth metal is also thought to be sending waves out to this universe effectively communicating with this big bad being known as Barbatos.

      From Metal #1
Image result for Barbatos DC Metal
Art by Greg Capullo. (DC Comics)

It is also revealed by Madame Dark Hawk that Bruce Wayne is expected to be the person who opens the door for Barbatos to invade the world.  However, Carter Hall aka Hawkman seemed to disagree with her.  He hid his journal about the Dark Universe / Nth Metal mystery in Wayne Manor in a place that would be revealed to the perosn he trusted when the time was right.  It seems that while the Bird and Bat have been at it for centuries that Hawkman believed Batman was the only one who could stop the threat that was coming.

      From Hawkman's Journal (Metal #1):
"I have left this journal for you. In your house. The house of the family I trust most.  Turned from Tribe Bat, to Tribe Bird. The Waynes.
Left it in a secret place that will make itself knwon to you through metal should I be wrong, should energy from the dark rise to foretell the coming of Barbatos.
Hawkman's faith in Batman seems to be well founded as Batman himself has been diligently researching Barbatos to uncover and thwart the threat that is coming for the DCU.  Though as Batman escapes from Lady Dark Hawk in Metal #1 even he seems to worry about the possibility that some how the knowledge he amassed to stop Barbatos could be used as the means to bring him into their universe.

When Batman goes back in time to stop Barbatos he falls into his trap is injected with one of Dark Metals and is used as a portal for the evil, Batman doppelgangers to invade Earth Prime from the Dark Multiverse.   Batman himself is then put into a dream like state in the Dark Dimension where he lives in a illusion that he is an old man reading the exploits of Batman to his daughter Janet.  However, at one point he notices a discrempency in the story and realizes that everything he is living is an illusion.  This brings him face to face with Barbatos.  Barbatos reveals how his guidance created Batman and made him into the hero he was.  Barbatos also reveals how the fears of Batman helped create the legions of evil Batman that Barbatos is using the conquer the world.  In the end Bruce was so horrified by the revelations of Barbatos that he asked to be put back into the dream.

      Early appearance of Barbatos

Scott Snyder explained to ComicBook.com that Barbatos was first mentioned in the story Dark Knight: Dark City saying:
"One of my favorite stories is Dark Knight, Dark City by Peter Milligan. It imagines that many years ago, in colonial times, a group of Gothamites try to summon a bat demon called Barbatos. The mystery in the present involves the Riddler, who runs Batman through a gauntlet of weird cases, all to secretly treat him with the substances and ritualistic materials needed to open a gateway to let Barbatos in again. In the end we’re left unsure whether Barbatos was a real force in Gotham’s history and in Batman's own construction. Recently, Grant [Morrison] touched on this story with his creation of Dr. Hurt and the journey of the hyper-adapter... all things we’ll be building on inMetal to make Barbados a villain like nothing you've ever seen."

It seems clear from all this that Barbatos has been preparing to attack the DC Universe for many years and his vanguard force is a terrifying array of Batman that have all been Super Powered up in various ways and all terribly corrupted.  These evil Batman will have their origins told in 7 1 shot comics.

They live within the burrows and within the tunnels beneath the planet, so there is a time where their ability to shine within the darkness, should provide a guiding light to our heroes.”

      Who is Odin?

Odin is a Marvel character based off the mythological Norse god Odin.  Odin was the father of the main branch of Norse deities the Asir/Asgardian.  The primary Asir/Asgardian hero in the Marvel universe is Thor, who is Odin's son.  Actor Anthony Hopkins plays Odin in the films Thor 1, and Thor 2.  Odin is generally considered to be one of the most powerful characters in the Marvel universe.

      Full Name: Odin Borson

      Alias:  The All Father, Woden

      Species:  Asir / Asgardian

First Appearance: Journey Into Mystery #85

       Odin News:

       Odin Multi-Media:

       Bio:
      https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/236x/21/5b/a3/215ba327a054121b68e3f7a95defb8e7.jpg

Odin is the son of the Asgardian King Bor (First Asgardian) and Bestla (First Frost Giant).  He has two brothers named Vili and Ve.  During a battle with the fire demon Surtur his brothers sacrifice themselves and give Odin their powers.  With combined might of his brothers he defeats Surtur and imprisons him inside of Midgard (aka Earth).  The powerful Odin becomes the ruler of Asgard and is given the title All Father.

He sacrificed his right eye to Mimir for wisdom.  Potentially, the wisdom to stop the cycle of Ragnarok in witch his people are slain and reborn to provide energy to a group called "Those who live above in Shadow".

      http://static.comicvine.com/uploads/square_medium/0/77/320870-148862-odin.jpg

Odin has a romantic relationship with Gaea (Mother Earth) and from this relationship Thor is born.  This relationship is relatively short lived and after Thor's birth Odin returns with the boy to Asgard.  Odin's wife Frigga acts as Thor's mother.

Odin goes to war with the Frost Giant King Laufey and slays the savage Frost Giant in personal combat.  Inside of Laufey's fortress he finds a young giant child who is the size of an Asgardian. He names the child Loki and raises it as his own.  Bor had cursed Odin that he would adopt a child of his enemy.  This child was meant to be Odin's downfall.  Despite his best intentions his sons Thor and Loki become bitter enemies.

Other children of Odin include Frigga (Yes his wife) and Balder.

Odin bestows Thor with the magical Hammer Mjolonir:
"Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor."
The powers of Thor have been removed a few times generally on the behest of Odin for Thor either being arrogant or for his obsession over Earth.  Thor's brave actions generally convince Odin to give his powers back.   Odin also would rather Thor be romantically involved with the AsgardianSif than the human Jane Foster.

Asgard has faced many crisis which Odin has helped fight off.  In three of these stories Odin was in fact slain only to be brought back.  These battles include fights with:  Loki,The Absorbing Man, Mangog, Storm Giant Skagg, Surtur, and Dormammu.

At different times Odin has appointed different Asgardians to act as his successors either due to his death or do to him requiring a deep sleep to recharge his powers (The Odin Sleep).    These appointees have included Heimdall, Balder and Thor.

       Powers:
Odin is generally considered to be one of the most powerful characters in the Marvel universe.
      • Super Strength, speed, durability, intellect, longevity
      • Vast Magical powers
      •  Life times of martial experience
      • Near God like power from a magical powers called the Odin Force
      Odin also has magical items:
Gungnir - Odin's magical Spear is said to be of great power
Slepnir - Odin's magical many legged horse

American Sniper Chris Kyle and the Punisher Emblem

One thing comic fans notice in the film American Sniper is that Chris Kyle and his group of American Soldiers often don gear and equipment bearing the symbol of the Marvel character the Punisher.  The symbol is known as the death's head and is a jawless, white skull with long teeth.

Having seen and enjoyed the film I became interested in the use of the Punisher symbol.  I began researching how the symbol was used, and to see if Chris really was a fan of the Punisher.  In my research I came across all kinds of stuff.   Chris has become a beacon for those who support the Iraq War and those who do not.  My take is that turning the film or worse the man, Chris Kyle into a symbol for the war is erroneous and borderline offensive.  I understand those who criticize the war, but you should be targeting George Bush, Dick Cheney, Rumsfeld that ordered soldiers like Chris to go to war not Chris for fighting in it.  Nuff Said on this.

The Punisher Symbol use in the military:
Skulls have long been a part of military symbolism. A great article on its uses over time can be found Here (Specialforces Newsletter)

The use of the Punisher symbol specifically seemed to begin during the Iraq War.

      Deuce Four Marking

       Deuce Four Picture

Deuce Four Skull of 24th Regiment:
The Deuce Four Skull became the unofficial symbol and calling card of the 24th infantry regiment during operation Iraqi FreedomThe Deuce Four symbol appears to be nearly an exact copy of the Punisher emblem with a 2 and 4 added into its forehead.  Members of the regiment are said to have adorned themselves with the symboland marked buildings where they had fought and killed enemy combatants.  The symbol made them one of the most infamous and feared groups during the Iraqi War.

Punisher Skull by Seal Team 3

Seal Team 3 which Chris Kyle was a part of also adopted the Punisher Skull symbol.

Daily Mail noted that,“the members of the unit adopted the white skull of the gun-wielding comic book vigilante The Punisher.  They painted the symbol on their body armor, their vehicles and even their weapons.”

The New Yorker noted that Chris Kyle went beyond liking the symbol, “Kyle seemed to consider himself a cross between a lawman and an executioner. His platoon had spray-painted the image of the Punisher—a Marvel Comics character who wages ‘a one-man war upon crime’—on their flak jackets and helmets.”  When Chris created his own company Craft International LLC the company used a similar skull logo.  The group that Chris Kyle fought with also called themselves the Punishers. In his autobiography Chris Kyle's said he confronted other American groups attempting to use the symbol, “We told them we are the Punishers. They had to get their own symbol,”

Punisher Symbol in Iraqi Armed Forces
      Iraqi Fighter preparing Tikrit

The use of Punisher Symbol is now being used by Iraqi Armed Forces as well as Shiite Militias

Some of these forces may use it to pay homage to US Platoon the Punishers or at least draw upon their infamy.  Most likely they just appropriated because it looked cool and intimidating.

Aymenn al-Tamimi, a researcher at the Philadelphia-based think tank Middle East Forumpointed out that the use of Punisher symbol by Iraqi Armed forces paralleled its use by Shiite Milities.

The Iraqi Shiite militia Faylaq al-Wa'ad al Sadiq uses a symbol of American origins as well.  They use an emblem based off the Marines raising the flag over Iwo Jima.  Tamimi commented on the group saying they were “ as anti-American as you can get. It was a proxy group set up to attack U.S. forces in the days of the Iraq war,” ...‘I think they come to the point where they forget about the American connection and they just see these as general symbols of military might and strength.”

Reasons for popularity in the US Military:
The Punisher is a popular character in the American Military.  The reasons for this are many.  On his face the Punisher character was trained in the military, and uses military weapons and tactics to defeat his foes.  These attributes immediately synchronize the armed forces with the character.

There is also a philosophical synchronicity.  The Punisher goes after the bad guys with violence.  His ethos is that there is a time and place for violence.  Violence can be used to help protect the innocent from the bad guys.  This is very similar to the Sheepdog philosophy preached by Chris Kyle's father in the American Sniper Film.  In this philosophy he breaks down the world into sheep, wolves and sheep dogs.  Sheep are those people who are essentially good but unable to defend themselves.  The wolves are those capable of violence and use it to prey on the sheep.  The sheep dog is what Chris's father tells his kids they should aspire to be.  The sheep dog is capable of violence but uses it to defend itself and the sheep from the wolves.  The Punisher and Sheep Dogs seem to have a lot in common.

Beyond the this there is the fact that the Punisher is a bad ass and soldiers naturally flock to bad asses.  The symbol is scary and intimidating looking and that always makes for a good symbol when going to war.

      http://pixel.nymag.com/imgs/daily/vulture/2015/01/22/22-punisher-american-sniper-3.w529.h352.2x.jpg

It is hard to say how much Chris read Punisher.  There is a moment in the film where he speaks to a soldier reading a Punisher comic.  He also could have seen one of the films representing the character.  From the use of the symbol by his platoon and company it is very clear that he was aware of who the Punisher was and what he was about.

From Chris Kyle's autobiography he wrote the following on the Punisher:
“He righted wrongs. He killed bad guys. He made wrongdoers fear him,”... “We spray-painted it on our Hummers and body armor, and our helmets and all our guns. We spray-painted it on every building or wall we could, We wanted people to know, We’re here and we want to f**k with you.”

Pokemon Go Travel Event does not invite biggest Pokemon Go Youtuber

This is how things start. Niantic announces a Pokemon Go Travel and Global Catch event.  The event was launched by featuring Pokemon Go Youtubers from around the world.  The event has so far been very popular with Niantic announcing that trainers have now caught over 500 million pokemon in the events first 2 days.  The goal is for trainers throughout the world to catch over 3 billion Pokemon.

But that is not the big news here.

People who know anything about the Pokemon Go community may realize one thing in the video though.  Nick from the channel Trainer Tips argueabley the most recognizable Pokemon Go Youtuber is not included in the video.  Things seemed to be ok with Nick at the beginning.

The big news is that Niantic snubbed TRAINER TIPS.

Then fans really started to take notice that Nick was not included and began to ask questions, and some immediatly became angry.  Nick had been Youtubing about the game since prior to its launch and was one of the key people to help get information out about the game.  He did this like all of the early Youtubers without any special information from the company.   The company did eventually reach out and begin using the Youtubers but not until the game had been out for about a year at the Pokemon Go Fest.

The video from Niantic did include Mystic7 and Reversal who along with Nick are considered to be the top 3 Pokemon Go Youtube Channels.  It also included some new but quickly growing Youtubers like Pokemon Trainer Holly.  Curiousily the first time many people met Holly was on Nick's Trainer Tips channel.

Trainer Tips for his part has uploaded a video where he shows frusteration at being left out but also says that it will be ok.  He tells his listeners to avoid boycotting the game and that he is discussing with Niantic about future collaborations.

            Trainer Tips Video Response

Personally, as a follower of businesses, and technology I find this behind the scenes drama as far more interesting than the event itself.  Pokemon Go is a different type of game that tries to act as a community connecting device as much as it is a game.  That focus on community gave rise to a variety of online voices many of whom now make a living by being defacto spokes people for the game.  While the company does not pay them, these people exist in a cottage industry created by the game and have their own large followings.  While they tend to say postive things about the game as that keeps customers coming into their cottage industry they could also become critics.   In this case the spokesperson did not even say anything but his fans acted on what they percieved as a slight.  This is a pretty interesting case to be aware of and makes me think about some old political strategies fund raising strategies where politicians know powerful fund raisers and lobbyist and have their staffs do an immense amount work to keep those people happy.  The tech world does not normally function this way, they are pretty cold to even each other.  Layoffs, companies going down and up are so common that people rarely bat an eye at them.

There are two questions now that companies like Niantic with passionate commonities and cottage industries of Spokepeople must ask themselves.  I am asking myself a five questions from a  business perspective on the relatively new place that Niantic sees itself in.

            A) How to keep the Unofficial Spokespeople happy.  Also how to mitigate the potential damage they could do to your brand?

            B) How can you use the Spokespeople to make your brand better and utilisize them as agents, celebrities for marketing, and promotion?

            C) How can you use communities to troubleshoot problems in the game/product to correct mistakes faster and with less pain to the overall user base?

            D) How can you build the people into your game/product to make them feel like they have a real ownership interest it seeing it succeed?

            E) How can you use these passonate spokespeople to enhance the game for other users?

While some companies may see these spokespeople as spoiled or arrogant.  Some companies may hate the loss of control of their narrative its important to also recognize the opportunities and upsides that these cottage industries can offer the company.  In my view the opportunities and benefits here far outweigh the negatives but a company needs to be careful here.  If you choose to try to use them you need to be hyper aware of them, you need to embrace them.

What all companies now can not afford is to ignore and pretend that they do not exist.  Where these cottage industries exist is how your customers are learning and engaging your brand on a daily basis.  More over people develop relationships and affinity with these personalities, often times those relationships will be stronger with those individuals than they are with the company itself.  You can't ignore that as a company, and you really ignore these people at your own peril.  A company can not like these people but at the end of the day that does not help the company.  What likely best helps the company is to find ways to embrace these people and bring them into the fold.

            Who is Archie Andrews:

Archie is the main character from Archie comics.  He has appeared in TV, comics, radio shows and comics since his first appearance in the 1940s.  Archie is played by actor K.J. Apa in the C.W. TV series Riverdale.

First Appearance: Pep Comics #22 (1941)

            Full Name: Archibald "Archie" Andrews

            Hometown: Riverdale

            High School: Riverdale High School

            Archie News:

Update  9-21-2017:  Actor KJ Apa was in a late night car accident after leaving the set of Riverdale.  The car is reportedly having been struck in the passanger side by a telephone pole.  However, KJ is ok and was released from hospital without "serious" injuries.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that KJ:

…apparently fell asleep driving the 45-minute trip home after midnight. He was taken to a local hospital for observation and later discharged without serious injuries. His car, however, didn’t fare as well. The passenger side was apparently destroyed after striking a light pole, and the vehicle was rendered inoperable."
The actors at Riverdale are said to be working 16 hour days.  This is a sensitive issue now after the death in Deadpool 2 which was also being filmed in Canada.  There seems to be some concerns that Hollywood safety rules are not being applied to the sets out of the country.  The Riverdale Season 2 is being filmed in preperation for the series premiere Oct 11th.

The Hollywood reporter also reports that another person close to the situation said:
“They’re working these kids from morning until night. “Someone’s going to die.”
Jughead and former Disney actor Cole Sprouse was also reportedly planning on being driven home by KJ.  He would have likely been in the smashed passanger seat had his plans not changed at the last minute.

The comics and shows often depict Archie's struggles as a teenager in a small America town.  Archie is a highschool student at Riverdale High School.  He lives in the small town of Riverdale whose main attraction is a fast food cafe called Pops.  His father Fred Andrews is a mid level office executive and his mother Mary is a stay at home mother.  Archie has important relationships with many of the teenagers in Riverdale High School.  His best friend is the lovable oddball Jughead, his rival is the vain jock Reggie, and his love life focuses on a live triangle with Betty and Veronica.

Archie is often depicted as a bit clutzy but he is still a talented singer.  He forms a garage band called the Archies with his best friends.  The band includes Archie, Betty, Veronica, Reggie and Jughead.  The band is depicted as gaining some notoriety in some stories but never the amount of Josie and Pussycats.

Archie also plays a variety of sports while at Riverdale High School.  He is generally depicted as not as athletic as Moose, Chuck Clayton and Reggie but often manages to hold his own.   Coach Cleats often worries that Archie is more concerned with social activities than he was the game at hand.

A major of vocal point of the Archie stories is his love life.  In the initial stories Archie fawned after Betty but she ignored him.  A new girl, Veronica moves into town and immediatly strikes up an interest in Archie.  Seeing Archie with another girl makes Betty jealous and she begins to pursue Archie.  Archie often uses Betty as a back date for when Veronica is out of the picture.  He becomes angry when Betty in turn dates other boys.  The wealthy and savvy Veronica is shown to easily manipulate Archie and keeps him jumping to pursue her.  Despite the hi-jinx of the love triangle Archie is shown having true feeling for girls.

            Riverdale Bio:

Archie is a student at Riverdale high school where he plays music and is a member of the football team.  In the summer before the show begins he begins an amorous relationship with his music teacher, Ms Grundy.   While having a romantic picnic the pair at the river the pair are startled by a gun shot.  This turns out to be the same day Jason Blossom goes missing at the same river.  When Jason's body is discovered with a gun shot wound, Archie must decide whether to come forward or stay silent to protect Ms Grundy.

Archie is friends with both old pal Betty and new girl Veronica.  While Betty expresses a desire for a romantic relationship Archie is too confused by his current relationship with Ms Grundy.  His confusion hurts Betty.  Betty blames Veronica for Archie's romantic confusion because she had been selected as Archie's partner is 7 minutes in heaven at a party by Cheryl Blossom.  Betty apologizes for kissing Archie during the 7 minutes in heaven and makes up with Betty at the local cafe of Pops.

Archie has fallen out of friendship with his former best friend Jughead.  Jughead reveals that he knows about Archie's relationship with Ms Grundy and urges him to come forward and do the right thing.  The pair make up after Archie tells Jughead he is going to come clean.  They run into Betty and Veronica at Pops where they all sit down to enjoy ice cream sodas.

Who are the Legendary Dogs / Beasts of Pokemon?
These are Pokemon are sometimes referred to as the Legendary Dogs or the Legendary Beast.
There are three Legendary dogs Raikou, Entei and Suicune.  While not a dog, Ho-Oh is considered to be the leader of the dogs as it created them after the event of the burning of the brass tower.

These are now in the game data of Pokemon Go and are expected to appear sometime this year.  The story behind these Legendary Dogs is pretty cool to.

First lets meet the Legendary Dogs!

            History of the Legendary Dogs:

The Legendary Dogs also have a Legendary story that is part myth and part real in the Pokemon universe.

In the Johto region of Pokemon there is said to have been a Brass Tower that existed in the city of Ecruteak City.  The Tower was burned down during a battle.  As a player you visit the burned ruins of the tower during the Games Pokemon Gold, Silver, and Crystal.  It is said that the tower was burned down 150 years pior to the player seeing the ruins.

The Brass Tower had a sister tower called the Bell Tower.  The Brass Tower was covered in Golden Brass and the Bell Tower was covered in Silver.  The Towers are said to have existed side by side for 700 years as a sign of friendship and community between the peoples in Pokemon.  Each tower was home to a Legendary Powerful Pokemon.  Luggia rested atop of the Bell Tower and Ho-Oh rested atop the Brass Tower.  Pokemon Trainers at the time were able to climb the towers to see and meet the ultra powerful rare Pokemon of their world.  The ancestor of those trainer is the current gym trainer of Eruteak City named Morty who relays some of the history of the tower to Pokemon Trainers.

Ruins of Brass Tower in game Soul Silver

Disaster strucks the bell tower when it is hit by lightning.  The lightnng creates a massive blaze that topples the tower.  After nearly falling completly down a massive rain storm appears and puts out the fire.  The Tower is thus effected by Lighting, Fire, and Rain in short succession.  Three Pokemon perish in the blaze.  These Pokemon are not named but many people believe them to have been a Jolteon, a Vaporeon and a Flareon (More on that theory below),

Ho-Oh flew away during the fire but flew back to use its powers to resurrect the 3 dead pokemon.  These 3 Pokemon become the Legendary Beasts / Dogs; Raikou, Entei, and Suicune.  These Legendary beasts are met by the player when they visit the ruins of the tower all initially flee at the first meeting.

Ho-Oh and Luggia both left their towers after the burning of the brass tower.

Eevee has connection to Legendary Beasts:
The exact Pokemon that died in the burning of the Brass Power and that were resurrected into the Legendary Beasts were never named.  However, there is a fan theory that these Pokemon were all the main Eevee evolutions of Jolteon, Vaporeon and Flareon.  The reason for this is that the share similar types, and move sets.  The beasts also share similar color schemes and appear to be larger more feriousious versions of the Eevee Evolutions.

This is one of those Pokemon Theories that may never be settled one way or the other but it is fun and might be fun topic to bring up during a Legendary Raid.
