Betty Cooper News:

More Dark Betty in Season 2?
In one episode of Season Betty tortured a student to gain information on slut shaming ring while doning a Black Wig. It seemed for a moment that she was overcome by the dark persona and nearly took things too far.  According to an interview with Lili Reinhart by Elite Daily the Dark Betty persona will be explored further in Season 2.  Betty will not wear a black wig this time but rather the show will explore where those dark emotions that overwhelmed Betty came from in the first place.  Reinhart explains that the pressure placed on Betty to be perfect take its toll on her psyche.  She further elaborates:
The mystery of Season 2 revolves a lot around Betty… Season 2 focuses a lot on Dark Betty. I think the way it was portrayed in Season 1 was like “Whoa, she's wearing a dark wig,” like an alter-ego, where it was a physically dark Betty. But in Season 2 it's a lot more… internally her darkness comes out, and it's a tortured soul Betty that you get to see. So it's a lot more of an internal struggle, rather than just a moment of putting on a wig.

Bio:

Betty is often depicted as the all american girl next door.  She is kind and friends with everyone.  She takes part in various philanthropic endeavors such as helping animals or the elderly.  She is often trying to get her friends and school mates to be more concerned with the environment and other social issues.

Betty lives in a middle class home with her father Hal Cooper and Alice Cooper.  She has two older siblings a sister Polly and brother Chic but both siblings have moved out of Riverdale.

Being a bit of a tomboy, Betty is able athlete, race car driver, skiier, baseball player, scuba diver and can fix cars.  When Archie has car problems he often turns to Betty for help.  A strong student Betty is one of the top students at Riverdale High School.

Betty often finds herself competing with the town's new girl Veronica Lodge for the affections of Archie Andrews.  While Veronica often makes Betty feel inadequate due to her immense wealth.  Betty can equally make Veronica jealous due to her skills and kind demeanor.  Despite their competition Veronica and Betty are close friends.

Both Jughead and Archie are also close friends.  Betty has also dated Reggie though usually only after Archie has begun dating Veronica.  While Reggie often acts very cavalier it has also been heavily applied in various stories that he really cares about Betty.  Betty has also had romantic interests with Jason Blossom and Adam Chisholm.

Riverdale Bio:

Betty is a cheer leader at Riverdale High School where she swoons after her friend, Archie Andrews.   Betty is a nice, some what shy girl and is sometimes pushed around by others who take advantage of her kinder nature.  Betty lives with her mother who is a reporter for the town's paper.  Her older sister has been moved somewhere safe after an apparent nervous break down and she has not seen her in months.

Betty befriends the rich new girl, Veronica Lodge.

Betty and Veronica become friends and Betty introduces Veronica the song writer Archie.  Veronica can see that Betty is hopelessly in love with Archie and urges her to ask to him to the dance.  Betty gets shy in the last moment and asks Archie to accompany both girls as a group date.  Archie is initially hesitant but finally agrees to go.  Archie greatly hurts Betty's feelings by dismissing her emotions for him.

At a party at Cheryl Blossom's house Cheryl dramatically arranges for Veronica and Archie to have 7 minutes in heaven together.  Initially, the two awkwardly talk but do end up kissing each other.  Feeling betrayed by her new friend Betty storms out of the party.

At the high school pep rally Cheryl Blossom is overcome with grief and flees from the stage.  Betty chases after her but finds that Veronica is already their consoling her.

Veronica attempts to make up with Betty by buying her flowers and cupcakes.  In the end Betty decides to try to be friends with Veronica again.  The two decide to go to Pops and get ice cream sodas. They run into Jughead and Archie at Pops where the four all sit together and enjoy a meal.

As Betty helps Veronica deal with the football team slut shaming girls at Riverdale she uncovers that Jason Blossom had dated her sister Polly.  She learns in a sleep over with Cheryl Blossom that Polly and Jason had in fact been engaged.  Confronting her father about the information about Polly she is shocked to learn that both of her parents already knew.  Her father goes off on a rant on how his Grandfather had been murdered by a Blossom.  Betty begins to wonder if there is more to her sisters disappearance than her parents are saying.

The 90s is alive in Valiant!

I thought I knew everything that was coming from Valiant in the most gimmik cover ever  BUT  I WAS SO VERY WRONG!!!!!

The best kind of nostalgia is when you find something from the past that you really felt was gone, then only to see it reappear much like it was.  Last week I found a pinball arcade in Louisville Colorado that had some of my favorite arcade games (Mortal Kombat 2, Galaga, DigDug) and mint condition Pinball machines that included some of my favorites Simpsons and Medieval Maddness.  Part of me was dumbstruck in awe as I saw these old games working and fully functional.  Stranger Things harnessed similar things to become a massive hit TV show and now Valiant is doing its own part to create a literal physical piece of the 90s on comic book shelves everywhere.

Yes some how Valiant managed to add a cool new quirk to this comic that I have a hard time believing.  What Valiant is doing with this comic is weaponizing 90s nostalgia into a foil Photon (Next Gen style of course) torpedo and firing it into happy 90s comic fans.  They are doing to this to such an amazing degree that the making of the comic itself is becoming an interesting story.

What I discovered in this Valiant Newsletter about the Quantom and Woody comic was something that really brought a huge smile to face.    The owner of Valiant Dinesh is a real comic book fan, he gets the industry because he himself is a consumer of that industry.  When he goes about creating the ultimate Variant cover he knows the covers he wants to emmulate and when he goes to a publisher to create this cover he really goes on a journey that only a comic book fan of 90s comics will really understand.

What Dinish finds in this place is really a gold mind of some of the great gimmick comics that lit up the comic store shelves of my youth.  What is even better is some of the left over foil from the 90's comics is going to be used to make the Quantom and Woody foil cover comics.  Dinish literally found left over foil used in 90s comics that has been sitting on a shelf for 25 years!!!  Its still there!

Make sure you watch the video below, its too awesome!

Super Man's presence in the film?

One of the initial mysteries of Justice League is the presence of Super Man.  Super Man is killed in a battle with Doomsday in the film Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice.  As Justice League begins Bruce Wayne and Wonderwoman will be left at creating a team that can stand up against massive threats to the planet Earth in Superman's absence.  While this is the backdrop in which the team is created it is expected by many that Superman will still appear in the film.  How and where this is occures is unknown.  However DC did release a picture of Superman as a promo for the film indicating that he is in there.

Home Entertainment on Digital starting January 23, 2018, and on Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo Pack, Blu-ray Combo Pack and DVD February 6, 2018.

Credit: Warner Bros. Animation

Inspired by the landmark one-shot Elseworlds tale by Brian Augustyn and Mike Mignola, Batman: Gotham By Gaslight will be available in several popular formats as only the second Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo Pack ($39.99 SRP) release of a DC Universe Movie. The film will also be available as a Blu-ray Combo Pack ($24.98 SRP) and DVD ($19.98 SRP), and Digital ($19.99 HD, $14.99 SD). Batman: Gotham By Gaslight takes place at the turn of the century as America’s continued industrial revolution is to be showcased at a World’s Fair hosted by Gotham City. But while the world prepares to witness the glittery glory of Gotham’s technological advances, there is a killer loose in the city’s darkest shadows. Preying on the city’s women, this killer is as precise as he is cruel. As Police Commissioner James Gordon tries to calm the fears of Gotham’s citizens regarding the butcher called Jack the Ripper, the masked vigilante Batman enacts his own detective work – with the help of confident, capable Selina Kyle – to stop the Ripper’s murderous spree. Witness a world in flames as the notorious serial killer’s controlled savagery meets the calculated stealth of the Dark Knight.

Acclaimed for his performance in Batman: Under The Red Hood, Bruce Greenwood (American Crime Story, Star Trek, iRobot) reprises his role as the voice of the Dark Knight in Batman: Gotham By Gaslight. Jennifer Carpenter (Dexter, Limitless) makes her DC Universe Movies debut as the voice of Selina Kyle. The voice cast also features Scott Patterson (Gilmore Girls, Justice League Unlimited) as James Gordon, Anthony Head (Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Merlin) as Alfred Pennyworth, Yuri Lowenthal (Batman Unlimited, Young Justice) as Harvey Dent, John DiMaggio (Futurama, Adventure Time) as Chief Bullock, William Salyers (Batman vs. Two-Face) as Hugo Strange, and Grey Griffin (DC Super Hero Girls) as Sister Leslie. Who is Superior on Agents of SHIELD?

Who is Superior?

Superior is a mysterious villain that appears in Agents of SHIELD. He is mentioned only as Superior at first as the leader of the Watch Dogs.   Overtime it is reavealed that Superior is Anton Ivanov a former Russian intelligence agent and Industrialist who started the anti-inhuman organization known as the Watch Dogs.  Actor Zach McGowan plays Superior in Agents of SHIELD season 4.  Superior is baddly wounded in a battle with Quake in episode 14 of Season 4 of Agents of SHIELD.  It is possible he returns as a different kind of villain later in the season.

It is unknown if Anton Ivanov is related to any comic characters.  However many assume he will become MODOK.

Real Name: Anton Ivanov

Alias: Superior, Top Watch Dog

Affiliations: Watchdogs, SVR

Citizenship:  Russia

Quote:
"These Inhumans. They did not suffer, labor, to become what they are. They have great power, but they didn't earn it. They are unnatural things. We will destroy them, and then the thing that brought them upon us."

―Anton Ivanov

Superior in Media:

Agents of SHIELD Store
Toylab is a member of the Amazon Affiliate Program so we can highlight awesome super secret SHIELD gadgets like these below:

Bio:

Anton Ivanov grew up in a working class family in Russia.  He joined the Russian intelligence specifically the SVR.  During a mission to retrieve an 084 (Object of Unknown Origin) Ivanov's team was beaten to the object by a SHIELD team led by Agent Coulson.  Much of Ivanov's SVR team was tortured and killed for its faillure to retrieve the 084 item.

Year later Ivanov would go on to leave intelligence and become a successful Industrialist.  He amasses a large fortune and with much of it buys military antiques including a submarine.

When the Inhuman Terregensis spreads across the world.  Anton sees the power that is easily being given to Inhumans as an affront to the natural order of the world.  He begins to fund the terrorist / hate group known as the Watch Dogs and funds the campaign of Anti-Inhuman politician Nadeer.

Ivanov believes that the source of the alien elements that have begun influencing Earth all stem from Agent Coulson.  Coulson was part of the original SHIELD team that he entangled with back in his days in the SVR and had continued to pop up with the Avengers and later with the Inhumans.  Ivanov gets help from Doctor Radcliff and his LMD assistant AIDA and uses them in a plan to capture Coulson.  The SHIELD team led by Coulson attack Superior's base in order to retrieve Director Mace.  During this mission Superior battles Quake and is unable to match her due to her powers.  She breaks a roof over him leaving him fatally wounded.

AIDA is leader seen operating on Superior much to his displeasure.  While Superior would rather die that be turned into a thing, AIDA assures him that he will be turned into many, many things.

It is unclear what Superior will return as once AIDA is complete with him.

Powers:

Anton Ivan has no powers but is highly skilled in martial arts, torture and espionage.

When AIDA "saves" the Superior she cuts off his head and saves his brain.  She then creates an alternative mechanical body that his mind controls remotely.  The mechanical body looks identical to his old real body but is effectively super powered by being made of mechanical parts.

Superior is turned into the effective Guardian of the Framework in the real world.  His mind / brain are in one location while an army of LMDs that look like him do his bidding.

There are a few clues that point toward Superior being MODOK.  First at one point he says he is designed only for killing.  This is a direct reference to M.O.D.O.K. Mental organism designed only for killing.  The fact that his mind is seperate from his body also seems to lend itself toward a MODOK like character.

Another clue is that the name of Superior is actually the name of a version of MODOK that has been heavily featured in the Secret Avengers comics where he is called M.O.D.O.K. Superior.  Superior MODOK's origin was actually a brain that had 700 LMD caretakers.  This early version of Superior MODOK is almost identical to that of Superior in Agents of SHIELD.

Entertainment Weekly asked Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen if the Superior had become MODOK?

Anton’s head is in a glass case. Has Anton become MODOK?
WHEDON: Well, no, we can’t really say what he is. He’s definitely his own creature, but we can’t comment really as to if he’s based on a Marvel character or not.
You can see more of this interview at: http://ew.com/tv/2017/02/21/agents-shield-hydra-ward-return/

Whedon seems to say no here but then back tracks. So it is hard to say if he Superior is a version of MODOK or not. Going back to the first posts on Toylab there was a lot of speculation that the Clairvoyant could be MODOK and speculation on what that could like like. We postulated at the time that in order for MODOK to work on TV he would need to be altered.   We even did some sketches of what he could look like.

You can see what are thoughts and designs were at the time on the link below:

Envisioning MODOK in TV and Film

I have personally always felt that MODOK and AIM should have been introduced in Agents of SHIELD.  I would have really liked a tether between the AIM depicted in Iron Man 3 and the show however that has never taken place.  I think he is a natural villain for them to go against and would be a lot of fun.

Eldrac is an Inhuman that for many years was a fixture of the Inhuman city of Attilan.  When Eldrac underwent the process of Terrigenisis he became a sentient building whose mouth can teleport people who entered it anywhere.  Eldrac is said to teleport people not where they want, but where they are needed.  He is sometimes thought of as more of a thing, than a person but has been shown to have consciousness, and sometimes even personality.   Eldrac can choose whether to teleport someone or not, which can often leave people begging the ancient door for help.

Black Bolt used Eldrac to evacuate Attilan before igniting the Terrigen bomb that created a huge number of Inhumans.  Eldrac brought the residents of Attilan to a safe location.  Eldrac was found and brought to new Attilan.  Medusa asked Eldrac to transport her to her husband, Blackbolt but instead he brought her to a place where the New Inhuman Dante was being confronted by the Inhuman Lash leader of the Lor tribe.  Through this event she becomes aware of the needs of the new Inhumans and offers them her support.

Eldrac is coerced into helping the Numan villain Lineage that eventually results in Lineage's death.  Lineage was attempting a coup and offered Eldrac the ability to move around.  Eventually, Lineage is killed by Karnak who bursts forth from his body.

Power:
Eldrac can transport people who walk into his mouth anywhere.  It is unclear if this power can cross dimensions and time.
Eldrac is also extremely long lived and durable having been transformed into a sentient building.

Answering more Eldrac the Door and AOS questions

Eldrac could be the Kree artifact that appears in the 2nd season of Agents of SHIELD.  While the artifact is referred to as Kree in origin it is possible that Eldrac is so ancient that to most Inhumans there is not a difference.  This could also help explain why the Royal Family of the Inhumans are not mentioned in the show.  Perhaps, they separated from the rest of the Inhumans so long ago that their existence is completely unknown to the other Inhumans.

The Inhumans in Agents of SHIELD mention how the stone is something that can kill or harm them. Eldrac would be dangerous to these rogue groups of Inhumans as he could teleport them to the Royal Family, or potentially bring the Royal Family down upon them.  There are few groups more powerful and deadly than the Inhuman Royal family and their strict rules could mean death to a rogue group of Inhumans.

The Stone has a group of holes in it, that kind of a appear to be a crude face.  With two offset eyes and a dotted line for a mouth.  This is similar to the Architectural like face of Eldrac.

The cool thing about this theory is that it would be the first link to the Inhuman Royal Family.  If the artifact is Eldrac then he could have simply swallowed Simmons to bring her to a place where it felt she needed to be.

Skurge the Executioner's last stand in Hel

One of the most memorable moments of Skurge the Executioner was his death.  He valiantly battles the entire demon army of Hel to allow his comrades to escape.  He positions himself over the bridge called Gjallerbru and lets no one pass.  Eventually he is swarmed and killed.  His last stand though is so legendary that heroes and villains alike comment on it in the Marvel universe.  He even earned the grudging respect of Hela whose minions he was slaying.  Karl Urban's version of Skurge may pay homage to this event in the film Thor Ragnarok see picture at bottom.

Hela Quote on Skurge:
"He stood alone at Gjallerbru. And that answer is enough."

Skurge had long been a henchmen of the Enchantress and felt his name had been tarnished by years of misdeeds.  In Hel he sought a warrior's redemption the only way a true warrior knows how.  The scene is a similar to a few battles  that have happened in history where a bridge is held by a berserker or a great warrior and not letting anyone pass.  A couple of historical battles that the scene could based off of are the Spartans at Thermopylae (Depicted in the 300) and of a large dane axe weilding bersker holding the bridge in the battle of Stamford Bridge..

Both Skurge and Hela are in the film of Thor Ragnarok and this scene may be depicted in the film in one way or another.

More Skurge the Executioner!

The group hits a point where someone needs to hold back the forces of Hel to allow the prisoners from Midgard and the rest of the group to escape.  Thor decides it should be him.  However, Skurge has other plans.

When Skurge knocks out Thor initially the Asgardians acuse him of being a traitor.  They debate if they should kill him right there.  But then Skurge explains himself.
He spent much of his life as a thrall to the Enchantress.  His loyalty to her was absolute but she simply used him and tossed him aside.  He then was tricked by Hela when entering Hel and he feels tired of being used and laughed at.  He sees this as his opportunity to have the last laugh.  He asks Balder to share his last laugh with Thor back when they are back to safety.

He sends everyone back.  He will stand alone against the horror to come.

The forces of Hel pour upon the bridge but he does not budge.

MCU Skurge's Last Stand
Actor Karl Urban plays Skurge in the film Thor Ragnarok.  The film features Hela as a primary villain and she of course is also a major character in the Skurge Last Stand story.

It is unknown if the event of his last stand will be depicted but the trailer certainly points toward this.  Skurge is shown with M16 in hand firing at unknown assailants.  This seems to be clearly taken from the comic material of his death.

"He stood alone at Gjallerbru. And that answer is enough."

I really hope that line makes it in.

A new Skurge theater standee is shown that looks fantastic.  This has him with his more iconic axe.

Is Beta Ray Bill in the Guardians of the Galaxy?

Many people including myself thought we saw Beta Ray Bill in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie. However, James Gunn when shown the character being looked dimissed this notion. While he dismissed it Marvel continues to throw other hints that the character exists in the MCU.

In total I see 6 signs of Beta Ray Bill.  In effect I see as many signs of Beta Ray Bill as I have seen of almost any other character that has yet to appear in the MCU.

1) Creature in a holding cell of the Collector closely resembles Beta Ray Bill.
2) Skull picked up by Starlord on the planet of Morag looks similar to Beta Ray Bill.
3) Beta Ray Bill's Hammer is added to a Marvel museum in Disney.  The Hammer in question is not specifically called out however its description is clearly that of Stormbreaker.  See below.
4) Korbinites (The alien species of Bill) are one of the primary alien species depicted in Guardians of the Galaxy (Orange bald people).
5) There was a callsheet used for Guardians of the Galaxy beneath the name Ti Asha Ra.  This is a Korbinite character highly tied to Bill.
6) In Thor Ragnarok there is a large tower depicting the former arena champions on Sakaar.  The heads appear to be that of Bi-Beast, Manthing, Ares, (Maybe Fin Fang Foom) and........Beta Ray Bill.  The Sakaar Arena is controlled by one of the Elders of the Universe the Grand Master who has ties to the Collector from Guardians of the Galaxy.
7) Surtuur appears in Thor Ragnarok who was involved in destroying the Korbinite homeworld of Korbin.

To me it would seem that Marvel is hinting on a large backstory of Beta Ray Bill all without even mentioning him by name.

My speculation of the Beta Ray Bill Story:
The Korbninites planet was destroyed by Surtuur and the Korbinites are forced to flee throughout the galaxy.  Some Korbinites find refuge on the Nova Corps controlled world of Xandar.  The Korbinites create a great protector in Beta Ray Bill.
Beta Ray Bill is found by the Grandmaster and for a time fights in the arena of Sakaar.  The Collector and the Grandmaster have a bet that the Collector wins.  In winning the bet the Grandmaster gifts Beta Ray Bill to the Collector.  Bill is added to Collector's collection.  After the Power Infinity Stones destroys a large part of the warehouse in Guardians of the Galaxy, Beta Ray Bill manages to escape.

The Evidence of Beta Ray Bill now permeates multiple MCU films.

Totem Tower of Arena Champions on Sakaar:

Beta Ray Bill a champion in the Sakaar Arena
The trailer for Thor Ragnarok shows a lot of cool things but one of the most interesting is a tower on Sakaar.  The Tower resides near the Arena and the two structures seem to fully dominate the landscape.  On the tower are various faces that many believe depict various great champions that have fought in the arena previousily.  The very top component of the tower looks like a Celestial, then moving down the faces appear to be that of Manthing, Beta Ray Bill, Ares, Bi-Beast, and Fin Fang Foom.
Are these characters still fighting in the arena?  Are they deceased or have moved on from fighting?  That is not clear.

One component that links Thor Ragnarok to Guardians of the Galaxy is that Sakaar's arena is controlled by the Grandmaster who is an Elder of the Universe.  The Collector who appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy is also an Elder of the Universe.  Each Elder has survived eons by focusing heavily on one thing.  The Grandmaster focuses on martial combat, while the Collector focuses on collecting.

Stormbreaker at Disney?

In the new Guardians of the Galaxy Breatout ride at Disney there is also a hall of Marvel artifacts and among them is an Asgardian Hammer that is not Mjorner.  It appears to look very much like Beta Ray Bill's hammer called Storm Breaker.  The artifacts appear to be part of the collection of the Collector further providing evidence of a linkage between the two characters.

The description of the hammer reads:
“Originated in the dwarves forge on Nidavellir, this finely crafted object is made of the powerful stone, Uru.”
This origin would match that of Beta Ray Bill's hammer Storm Breaker.  Storm Breaker's construction on the Marvel wikia is described as:
Odin had the Dwarves of Nidavellir create a new hammer made for the cyborg Korbonite warrior, crafted from the same Uru metal as Mjolnir. With the assistance of Eitri and other dwarf blacksmiths, they forged Stormbreaker.
These description appear to be damn near identical.  There are also not many other powerful Asgardian hammers floating around other than Mjorner and Stormbreaker.

While there is nothing solid it does seem that Marvel continues to find ways to hint at the appearance of Beta Ray Bill.

What I saw
There is a creature with a red cape in Guardians of the Galaxy that looks very much like Beta Ray Bill.  I would say that at the very least it had a horse like head.  It could be of his same species a Korbinite and not Beta Ray Bill.  This would be a change from the comics where Bill is the only Korbinite to look the way he does.  It could also have been one of the Kymellians who are aliens that have horse like heads.
Is Morag on GotG actually Kymellia I?

The image I saw went by quickly.  What I saw a figure with a horselike head and a big red cape standing in one of the collector cells.  I can't find the exact picture but I found one that is very close.

According to Gunn this is not Beta Ray Bill

See the actual Beta Ray Bill Clip here.

James Gunn has spoken.  He says this is not Beta Ray Bill, it is some other alien that looks exactly like Beta Ray Bill and has a hammer.  I am not sure if I buy it.  Actually, I know I don't.  Beta Ray Bill will be in Thor 3 just wait.

The Other Beta Ray Bill / Kymellian Connection!
Likely a Kymellian skeleton but could be re-visioned Korbanite

The other Beta Ray Bill possible connection was on the planet Morag where Starlord finds the orb.

There are skeletons on the planet Morag that resemble Korbinites.  They look like humans with horse heads.  Technically Korbanites do not look like Bill, Bill is combined with beasts to make a super powered protector.

The skulls could also be from the alien race called KymelliansKymellians are humanoids with horse heads and they inhabit a world in the Andromeda Galaxy where Xandar also is.  I don't have enough information to say one way or the other.  If anyone can find this image please send me the link.

Ti Asha Ra Connection
It also seems that another prominent Korbinite character may have been in the movie.
Meet Ti Asha Ra the most secret character in Guardians of the Galaxy
This would provide another major Beta Ray Bill connection.

Baby dancing Groot Toys

Concept Art of Baby Groot

When the initial Guardians of the Galaxy came out there were no Baby Groot toys.   Baby Groot was shown at the end of the film dancing and was so cute that it left many in the crowd wanting to find a toy version of the character. The final scene of Guardians of the Galaxy was kept secret enough that no toys had been planned for the character.  This caused a massive cottage industry of people creating their own version of the character before Marvel and Toy makers could rush in and satiate demand.

With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 Marvel was not going to make the same mistake twice and there are now many different options of baby Groot at different price ranges.

Toylab has rushed to find the coolest version of Baby Groot and where possible we have also included direct links to the best deals on Amazon.

Funko Pop! Baby Groot in a pot
This is the versionof the character where he is in a pot and growing back.  This is how the character appeared at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy 1.  In Volume 2 he has continued to grow and has legs and so he has left the pot behind.

Funko Pop! Adolescent Groot
This is one of the top selling Groot figures right now and I think its because it captures so much of young Groot's attitude.  It also has a great price.  This is likely the best value of all Groot figures.

Hasbro Baby Groot in Ravager Uniform
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 Baby Groot 10 Figure Ravager Outfit Exclusive

This is actually my current favorite Baby Groot figure but does cost almost double what the Funko figures cost.  This has Baby Groot looking almost exactly like what he looks like in the film and with a Ravager uniform.  He is also pretty much to scale with how he appears in the film.  I would say the only version that is better than this is the Hot Toys version.  The Hot Toys version was more real looking but this version is actually easier for a child to play with and for a collector to pose.

Hasbro Baby Groot figure
This is another Hasbro Baby Groot figure that is also very cool.  This version does not have the Ravager

Neco Bodyknocker Set
This set is not a figure but is also really cool for a Groot Fan.  It includes a Groot Body Knocker, Groot Ear Buds, and Groot scales.

Baby Groot in a potted plant
Everyone who sees the movie Guardians of the Galaxy leaves the theater with one overwhelming desire!  How do I get my hands on a dancing baby Groot in a pot?
Sure there are a lot of great Guardians of the Galaxy Merchandise but something about that cute little guy dancing in the pot sticks out.

It seems that this simple want is not that easy to come by.  Marvel it seems did not predict the demand for potted Groots and there is of now NO official potted Groot. Executive Editorial Director of Digital Media at Marvel Ryan Penagos has said on Twitter that while there has been talk of a toy there is still nothing official.
I think the scene with the dancing Groot was added somewhat late and this could be why no one in merchandising at Marvel realized the potential of such a product.

Now just because there is not official toys does not mean you can not buy one.
Likely the most popular will be this one from Etsy.  However, Marvel has now asked Etsy to stop selling these toys.  So the only place to pick up one of them may be through Ebay.

BabyGroot2
Dancing Baby Groot from Etsy

Other expensive options:
Sabrefiretiger is making custom Baby Groots for about $90 out of the funko pop toys.
Baby Groot Custom Funko Pop Vinyl + More
Custom designed Funko Pop toy

Hot Toys initially required you to buy a Groot and Rocket statue to get a potted Groot.  Now they have this great new option of a $45 Baby Dancing Groot!

$45 Baby Dancing Groot from Hot Toys

I will keep my ear to the ground if other options become available.

Also anyone with other ideas on how to make a baby groot or buy one please let me know in the comments section below.

Harry Potter Wizards Unite / Harry Potter Go  (HPWU) News

At Toylab we have followed the Pokemon Go augmented game from Niantic very closely and with the news that Niantic is now developing a Harry Potter game we have decided to cover the new game closely.  The new game will be called Harry Potter Wizards Unite (HPWU) and you can read about its announcement right HERE.  While dusting off our wands and practicing our patronus charms we came to the conclusion that we needed help.  We want to be the go to place Harry Potter Wizards Unite news and strategies and to do that we need a true wizarding talent.

To meet our extremely high standards it seemed the only option was to bring in a true wizarding expert to become Toylab's very own Dark Arts instructor.  We sent our owl (His name is Cyberhawk) to the ministry of magic for an Auror but unfortunetly they were all preoccupied.  New tactics and twists and turns after a few tips from a shadowy character named Mundugus in Diagon Alley led us to uncovering a startling truth.  Some how through a quantum time spell unleashed by the ministry of magic to contain a muggle science experiment gone wrong in Cern Switzerland a duplicate version of the famous Auror Mad-Eye Mooney had been created in our time as a time displaced, magical clone.  As the previous one had been killed in the line of duty at the Battle of 7 Potters ,we never expected to hire on the infamous auror.  We are happy to say that after sending out Cyberhawk (Our owl) he responded that he would be willing to help our ragtag Muggle outfit survive the coming storm.

Now with each article we post on Harry Potter we will add in a special succinct tip from Mad Eye Moody's time displaced clone.

Who is King Ezekiel in the Walking Dead?

Ezekiel is a character in the Walking Dead who is the leader of a community called the Kingdom.  Ezekiel is known for fighting alongside Rick Grimes in the All Out War story as well as for his pet tiger, Shiva.  Actor Khary Payton has been hired to play Ezekiel in the show the Walking Dead.

First Appearance: The Walking Dead #108

Death: The Walking Dead #144

Monikers:  I have heard many people refer to Ezekiel as the Tiger Dude, Tiger guy etc.

Multi-Media:
King Ezekiel makes his first appearance in the premiere episode of Walking Dead Season 7.  Scenes by Khary Payton feature prominently in the episode.

Bio:
Ezekiel was a zookeeper prior to the zombie apocalypse.  At some point he may have also been an actor.   After the apocalypse Ezekiel uses one of the Tigers as a zoo named Shiva as a pet.  He and the tiger create a community of survivors that names Ezekiel as its leader.  He proclaims himself, King Ezekiel and calls the community the Kingdom.   Ezekiel has met and befriended with Paul Monroe from the Hilltop. He greatly despises Negan and the Saviors.  Ezekiel is the first to admit that he can be theatrical while acting as the king of the Kingdom.  He acts very confident but at certain times does become rattled and reveals insecurity.

Ezekiel has spent considerable amount of time gathering information on the Saviors and Negan whom he regards as a tyrant.  He has been accumulating on this information waiting for the proper time to strike.

Rick is brought to the community to meet with Ezekiel by Paul Monroe where the leaders of each community create an alliance to take down the Saviors.  Dwight a Savior mole is also there and joins in the pact with the other leaders.  Rick brought several people with him to Alexandria including Michonne.  Ezekiel immediately takes an interest into the warrior woman.  She initially scorns him but after a friendly and flirty chat begin to see each other romantically.

Eziekel later leads a group of Kingdom warriors and saves Alexandria from a siege by the Saviors.  The Kingdom force catches the Saviors force by surprise and saves the town.  Negan manages to escape this battle and Rick initially wants to give chase.  Ezekiel warns Rick away from this tactic though due to the Saviors still possessing superior numbers.  Ezekiel is highly impressed with Alexandria and comments that Rick greatly undersold the community.

Ezekiel leads a force first with Rick on an attack of the Savior stronghold of Sanctuary.  Later he splits off to take down a Savior base.  Ezekiel's attack ends disastrously and Shiva ends up being killed.   The battle between the Kingdom and Savior forces had lured over a massive horde of zombies who diverted the Saviors.  While the zombie horde allowed Ezekiel to escape he became trapped within the horde himself.  Shiva took down as many zombies as the tiger could but eventually was surrounded and killed by the zombies.

A grieving Ezekiel seeks comfort of Michonne.  He tells her about the disastrous attack, the loss of his men and of Shiva.  He tells her that he no longer wants to be a leader.  Michonne responds to this by punching him in the face and calling him a "Pussy".  She says that he is still being trusted by families in the Kingdom to lead and needs to man up and do so.  When Alexandria is attacked Ezekiel wants to flee but Michonne convinces him to stay and fight.

Ezekiel eventually agrees to bring all of his remaining survivors to the Hilltop where the three communities can gather their forces and avoid being taken out by the Saviors individually.  He fights alongside the survivors at the final battle at Hilltop.

Some time after All out War:
It is eventually revealed that Ezekiel and Michonne are having relationship difficulties.  Michonne leaves and goes out on her own and Ezekiel goes out to look for.  He runs into the Whispers, whose leader Alpha decapitates him.

When Michonne sees the head of Ezekiel she begins to cry, revealing that she still had feelings for him.

Carol and Morgan while battling Saviors came across another man who seemed to come from another community.  It is expected that this community is the Kingdom.

Actor Khary Payton was hired to play King Ezekiel in the show.  He was first shown in the trailer for Season 7 at San Diego Comic Con:

From Entertainment Weekly interview with Khary Payton was asked what it was like acting with nothing there at times to create Shiva.  Shiva is Ezekiel's pet tiger.

"It’s just another beautiful way that I get to use my imagination. As far as I’m concerned, Shiva’s as real as the people standing next to me — as Morgan or Carol or any of the other people who move among the Kingdom itself. So I really don’t think of it as CG or mechanic. All I know is that she’s real to me. I’ve done a lot of video games where there’s literally nothing standing in front of me. I’ve done, you know, a lot of voiceovers where there’s literally nothing standing in front of me, I’ve got to make it all up, so this is just another situation where my imagination gets to be used in another context, so no matter how good they bring it to life, it’s already alive in my head."

The Whisperers are group of survivors encountered by the network of communities set up by Rick Grimes after the events of All Out War.  The two groups quickly end up a battle with each other.

First Appearance: The Walking Dead #130

Whisperer News:
The All Things Walking Dead HQ

Walking Dead Store:
Toylab is a member of Amazon Affiliate Program and so we can awesome deals like the ones below shambling your way.

Comic Bio:
Whisperers are a group of survivors who live among the undead in the world of the undead.  The group utilizes zombie suits made of decaying human parts so remain undetected by hordes of walkers around them.  The group grows to be quite large though there total numbers are never revealed.  The group is able to use massive herds of zombies as both shelter for other survivors and as a devasting weapon.  From within side the herd they can steer it toward enemies fully crushing those communities beneath the weight of their herds.

Alpha is the leader of the mysterious group.  She is sharp tongued woman with a bald head.  Alpha operates with a cold, near emotionless demeanor deeming all signs of emotion as a sign of weakness.

The group communicates in the herd by whispering to each other.  This is where the group get its name from.  They are able to watch other survivor groups and watch their movements.  They are also able to ambush survivors.  According to both Lydia and Alpha the Whisperers have crushed countless communities using their tactics.

The group attempts to live in an animalistic way without any form of shelter.  They have general philosophy of might makes right.  They view communities attempting to live in a more normal human way as weak.  Alpha comments that she sees Alexandria as nothing but a shrine to how people used to live.  Additionally, brutality such as murder and rape are allowed within the Whisperers.  Lydia the daughter of Alpha has said she was raped countless times in the community and it was allowed because it was sign of her weakness relative to another's strength.

    Whisper War
After initial violent conflicts and kidnapping of parties the Communities under Rick and Whisperers agree upon a rough truce and set a boundary.  The boundary line is made up of heads on spikes of former members of the Alexandria and Hilltop communities.

Negan escapes and attempts or pretends to join the Whisper community.  He quickly sees that the Whisperers are too crazy (even for him) and assassinates Alpha cutting off her head and escaping with it.  He shows Rick the head and explains that at least he left them leaderless.    The Whisperers are not left leaderless for long as Beta takes the reigns.

The communities then create a plan to deviate the massive horde of the Whisperers.  Initially it seems they are successful.  However, Rick realizes that his forces only deviated a small portion of the overall horde.  The full horde is a like an "ocean of the dead" and it crashes into Alexandria.

    Members:
The Whisperers have many members but few are given names in the series.  Most use a code name foregoing a real name.
    • Alpha - Leader of the Whisperers
    • Beta - 2nd in command
    • Joshua - A Whisperer that is killed by Paul Monroe
    • Lydia - The daughter of Alpha is captured by Paul Monroe

    Who is Klaw?

Klaw is the arch nemesis of the Marvel hero the Black Panther. He is villain known for his mastery of the metal of Vibranium and the powers of sound.

    First Appearance: Fantastic Four #53

    Real Name: Ulysses Klaue

    Alias: Klaw

    Klaw News:

    Bio:
Ulysses Klaue is a Dutch physicist whose studies on applied sound lead him to exploring turning sound into physical mass.

Klaw becomes a mercenary and pursues a deposit of vibranium in the African nation of WakandaVibranium not native to the Earth is one of the rarest metals in existence and he immediately begins to mine it for his own purposes.  The Wakandan leader T'Chaka did not realize the full potential of vibranium but he is not a fool.  He tries to stop Klaw from stealing the metal.  Klaw kills T'Chaka, but his plan in the end is thwarted by the interference of T'Chaka's son, T'Challa.  Klaw escapes though loses his right hand in the process.

While, Klaw's initial plans do not work he does succeed in acquiring enough vibranium to study.  He becomes an expert in vibranium, its properties and uses.  He builds a device that can control sound.  This new sonic weapon is mounted where his right hand used be.  He uses this weapon in various battles and schemes against the Black Panther and other heroes.

Klaw joins various super villain groups including the Masters of Evil led by Ultron and the Pacific Overlords.  He also forms partnerships with the villains Solarr and the Molecule Man but both of these schemes are thwarted.

For a time Klaw is imprisoned inside his own sonic gun.  The gun is stored inside Project Pegasus.

Eventually, Klaw has his material form entirely dissolved in a battle with the X-Woman Dazzler.  He even becomes a being made and constructed of pure sound.  His sound energy is also sent out into space.  Due to his sound energy intermixing with the Beyonder and Galactus it is captured by Doctor Doom.  Doom hopes to use it to achieve godhood.  However, this bid is foiled by Klaw himself who eventually returns to his physical form.

At one point Klaw inadvertently heals Captain America's Vibranium Shield when he blasts Captain America with a sonic blast.  The blast hits Captain America's SHIELD and cures it of its Vibranium Cancer.

He continue to battle to try to overtake the small nation of Wakanda using what ever force and means necessary.  All to strip the country of its vibranium.

    Powers:
Transformed into physical sound Klaw has super strength and durability.  He can manipulate sound to perform an array of functions.  He can create constructs out of sound and also create sonic concussive blasts.

In his sonic form he can be weakened and destroyed by vibranium which disrupts his form.

    Klaw in the MCU
Actor Andy Serkis famous for playing CGI characters plays Ulysses Klaue in Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Ultron seeks Klaw to get a supply of Vibranium.  Ultron agrees to pay Klaw billions for the Vibranium but not before angrily ripping off Klaw's arm.

It seems likely that when Klaw returns that he has an upgrade Vibranium replacement arm.

Klaw meeting with Ultron in Age of Ultron

Why is Klaw an important villain to Black Panther.
I have heard some criticism of Klaw.  Why is this Dutch super villain with a somewhat generic suit so important to the Black Panther mythos?

I personally see the Klaw and Panther's story to be one of the most complex and important hero/villain relationships in comics.  It is up there with Joker and Batman.  In a good story the characters are symbols for more than two beefy guys slugging it out.  The movie the Dark Knight is unequivocally the best comic book movie of all time because it plays with the notion of not who the characters are, but what they are.  Batman is a symbol of fear, violence on the side of order, and as he cracks down on the criminal world, up springs this psychopathic lunatic, counter balance that desires only chaos.  The Joker and Batman are personifications of forces, actions, and decisions. In many ways the decisions of Batman are parallel  to decisions in American Foreign policy in the post 9-11 era.  Joker and Isis have parallels with each other as reactions against forceful interventions.  In short it is not a super hero movie, but a movie of avatars that are battling across the philosophical questions that currently loom large across our minds.

    http://www.9e3k.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/The-Dark-Knight-Joker-2.jpeg

Why does the Klaw / Panther relationshipnot attract the same level of notice as the Batman/Joker one.  While Batman / Joker walk in parallel to thoughts of those affecting the modern/current American psyche, those in Black Panther's do not.  Some of it is simply timing, the themes presented in the Dark Knight are in lock step with the post 9-11 American experience.

The fears of colonization, science without morals, westernization, and Americanization are not on the forefront of American's minds right now.   These are the themes of the Black Panther and Klaw relationship, they are not worse or less than the Batman/Joker relationship but simply not as in vogue at the moment.

Explaining Klaw from a thematic view:

First Klaw kills T'Challa's father so that immediately makes him important.  Beyond that though Klaw represents imperialism, powerful technology, science run amok, and these are important themes to the Black Panther story and history in general.

On the surface level you have an interesting martial battle between the master of sound facing off against the master of the jungle.  There is a contrast between the natural world and the scientific world that makes for a dynamic and visually appealing battle.  This contrast is used in multiple Black Panther stories but this is still on the surface, so hold on as I plunge deeper.

Klaw in one sense represents the threat of imperialism.  He sees the resource of Vibranium as being in the hands of lessers, who do not understand its worth.  Rather, than buying it he decides to simply take it and use it as he pleases.  In other countries this may be possible but Wakanda has a very powerful defender in the Black Panther.

While Klaw's actions of killing and attacking the Wakanda people are vile it also serves as a warning to T'Challa T'Challa changes his own course as the Black Panther as well as that of his entire people.  The historical event with Klaw reminds me of Admiral Dewey of the United States charging into the harbor of Tokyo.  The Japanese had isolated themselves from the world.  They saw people outside of Japan as barbarians.  Seeing the steam ships of the United States in their harbor was a wake up call for the Japanese that the outside world was passing them by.  The Emperor quickly begins to invite the foreigners to teach Japan about the outside world and its technology.  The Japanese quickly absorb the technology and teachings from around the world, integrate it into their own society and become a world power.  There are a whole slew of growing pains with these changes.  Wakanda under goes similar pains, what parts of their culture do they keep, what do they take away, these are hard questions.  The threat personified by Klaw provides a major impetus for them to change despite the hardships it presents.

The series of conflicts presented here are very complex.
How much should you change to be safe?  Should you change out of fear?  Are the changes for the good anyway?  Will we lose our own identity due to these changes?

Perhaps the most important question Klaw presents the Black Panther is how far does he change before he becomes his own enemy?  As the technology of Wakanda expands what separates himself from Klaw the man he hates?

Klaw is thus a representation of the threats of the outside world/science, as well as the threat of what one can become.  If you become your enemy does he not in the end win?

    Comics and Trades:
I normally only recommend 4 trades from Amazon however I have linked directly to 8 here.    I highly recommend Don McGregor's Black Panther Jungle Action the 1973series which fleshes out Wakanda.  I grew up on and love Christopher Priest's Black Panther that modernized the character.  The recent Black Panther: A Nation Under Our Feet is also phenonemal, while being very different from all other comics.

Here are my favorite Black Panther Toys.  The Mask, Funko, Marvel Legends figure and the Lego Set from Captain America: Civil War.  This will be updated once the Black Panther film comes closer.

Coding Caterpillar or Code-A-Pillar by Fisher Price is Toylab's Top Christmas Toy of 2016

Toylab bloggers love the Code-A-Pillar the fun toy that teaches kids the art of sequencing that is a crucial part in learning how to build computer program aka to Code.  Coding is getting hot for good reason as its a critical skill for the next generation.

Caterpillar Train Missions - For Code-A-Pillar Fun

The main Code-A-Pillar set comes with a set of group of moves it can do but your toddler may quickly want it to do a little more.  This is where Fisher Price smartly added expansion packs.

There are 3 different expansion packs so far and we are going to review each one and let you know which ones we like the best.

Think and Learn Basic Expansion Pack
This pack adds a forward, left turn and right turn segments.  I really like this one because it just give your toddler a few more pieces that are easy to understand.  To me the fun part of the Code-A-Pillar is making it move along a course or from spot A to spot B.  It allows the toddler to solve just a little more complicated of a problem and increases the variability making it more fun.  While this makes the Code-A-Pillar more fun I also don't see it making it overwhelming.  If anything providing these pieces make the Code-A-Pillar easier to use.  Some might even argue that this expansion should have come with the Base Set.

Bottom line I really like this expansion and highly recommend getting it with the base set.

    Fisher Price Description:
Code-a-pillar™ inspires little learners to be big thinkers! Preschoolers can develop important skills—like problem solving, planning & sequencing, and critical thinking—as they arrange (and rearrange!) these additional, easy-to-connect segments to send Code-a-pillar™ on all sorts of different paths. Add Go Forward, turn right 90 degrees, and turn left 90 degrees ... your wish is his command with this Code-a-pillar™ expansion pack!
Make the Code-a-Pillar™ grow and go!
This pack contains 3 easy-to-connect command segments with unique actions:
    • Forward—Add this piece and Code-a- pillar™ moves straight ahead!
    • 90° right turn— This piece makes Code-a-pillar™ turn right.
    • 90° left turn-- Add this piece for Code-a-pillar™ to make a left turn.
    • Each pack sold separately and subject to availability

Think and Learn Silly Sounds & Lights Expansion Pack

This set I tend to overlook because when my toddler plays the game is normally trying to get the Code-A-Pillar to go somewhere along or through something.    This pack does not provide any segments that help the Code-A-Pillar move instead these make the Code-A-Pillar make different noises.  That said I can see how making the Code-A-Pillar go to sleep or act goofy could be a lot of fun for a kid.

One warning to parents on this one is that the Code-A-Pillar has no mute button.  If you buy these sounds you might be listening to them.......A LOT!

    Fisher Price Description:
Add these to Code-a-pillar™ to make him grow and go!
Code-a-pillar™ inspires little learners to be big thinkers! Preschoolers can arrange these additional easy-to-connect segments in endless combinations to send Code-a-Pillar™ on its path. This encourages experimentation while developing important skills including problem solving, planning and sequencing, and critical thinking. Your wish is Code-a-Pillar™’s command with this zany expansion pack!
    Features:
Make the Code-a-Pillar™ grow and go!
This pack contain 3 easy-to-connect command segments with unique actions:
    • Sleepy Zzzs - Awww...this piece's soft sound & light makes you want to take care of Code-a-pillar™
    • Wacky - Ready to make him go "wacky"? Add this piece & he'll stop & make silly sounds while his eyes "blink" in a zany light pattern
    • Happy - Adding this piece will make him stop & play upbeat music while his eyes "blink" in a fun light pattern
Think and Learn Master Moves Expansion Pack

The master Moves comes with a 45 degree turn, a 180 degree turn and the a repeat segment.  The repeat segment is pretty cool but may baffle toddlers at first.  Basically you flip a switch on it between 1 and 5 and the Code-A-Pillar will repeat the action the repeat segment is attached to the number of times you have set.  Its pretty cool but will likely be overlooked at first.  I like how they named this one the Master set because I think that is how this set is best used.  Let your kids figure out the basic moves and do some things.  Then add this in later.

    Fisher Price Description:

Frank Grillo was quoted in an interview saying that Crossbones could potentially return to the MCU.  While his character was blown up in Captain America Civil War it is possible that the appearance could be in the past or that he is returned to life by an infinity gem or by the Scarlet Witch.  The Scarlet Witch took part in his death by elevating before he exploded.  Grillo is quoted as saying:
"It’s great to be part of Marvel too," he says, "and I have three boys who are fanatical about Marvel, and I was surprised not too long ago because there is some news that nobody knows yet, to do with my character, that’s going to be really interesting and I’m excited about that.

      Crossbones Bio:
Brock Rumlow is the brutal, thug leader of the Savage Crims gang on New York's lower east side.  After killing a man Rumlow flees the authorities and joins Taskmaster's school for criminals.  Showing great skill in fighting, assassination, guns, and piloting vehicles he quickly is elevated to an instructor at the school.

For a time he works as a mercenary under the Red Skull.  The Red Skull is impressed when Rumlow is the only member of his team to survive an attack on Arnim Zola's Swiss Chateau.  After this Red Skull gives Rumlow the name Crossbones and makes him into his full time henchmen.

As one of the primary henchmen of the Red Skull he takes part in numerous plots and battles with the Captain America.  He is very loyal to the Red Skull.  Crossbones even assembles a team of former Red Skull henchmen to search for the Skull when he goes missing.

      Rampage Movie

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's next film is based off of a video game, Rampage.  While there have been a lot of movies based off of video games the curious thing about this one is the game goes all the way to the late 1980s arcade scene.  Rampage was released in Arcades in 1986 and was something of a staple in arcades through the early 90s.In many ways Rampage seems like an odd game to base a film off of.  I really can't imagine that many people remember it.  That said the 80s and early 90s seem to be hot right now, with things like Stranger Things playing up the nostalgia factor. While the game was eventually ported on home system NES, Atari and Sega Master System I think most people who remember this game will remember it from arcades.  I remember this game, I played the heck out of this thing.

      Trailer:

      Synoposis:
Primatologist Davis Okoye shares an unshakable bond with George, the extraordinarily intelligent gorilla who has been in his care since birth. But a rogue genetic experiment gone awry transforms this gentle ape into a raging monster. As these newly created monsters tear across North America, destroying everything in their path, Okoye teams with a discredited genetic engineer to secure an antidote, fighting his way through an ever-changing battlefield, not only to halt a global catastrophe but to save the fearsome creature that was once his friend.

      About Rampage:
Way back in the 80s and 90s there was an arcade in Aurora Colorado called Boardwalk USA. This was an awesome arcade that allowed you to play unlimited games after paying fixed fee.
You could play arcade games all day. That place was basically my babysitter for many a saturday and I absolutely loved it. One of the games in the arcade that I was always entranced with was Rampage. In Rampage 3 different players could play one of 3 different giant monsters as you went through a city in a competition of mass destruction. The three different monsters were Ralph a giant werewolf, Lizzie a giant Lizard, and George a gigantic Gorilla. These monsters would battle each other and various puny humans who were trying to ruin their fun with tanks and such.
There were different types of buildings, and different types of people.  Once your character took a certain amount of damage your monster would turn into a little naked human.  The other monsters could then pick you up and eat you.  If they didn't eat you in time then you would revert back into a giant monster.  Yes its a little nuts, what can I say this was the 90s.

You would also get to travel to diffent cities with ever bigger towers and more advanced difficulty.

The Monsters in the arcade game were all people who had come into contact with various bizarre items that had transformed into their giant monster state.  George the Gorilla was transmuted by a experimental vitamins, Lizzie the giant Godzilla Lizard was transformed by a radioactive lake and Ralph the Wolfman had come into contact with an unussual like Food Additive.  I played all of the characters but for what ever reason I always preferred Ralph.  Werewolfs are my jam.

      Image result for rampage arcade

The upcoming film looks like it will feature all three of the big galutes from the game.  However, they will have different origins.  Instead of being people transformed into giant monsters, these will be animals that will have come into contact something that made them Monster out.

Will the movie be popular?  Who the heck knows.  If it is popular who knows it could start a whole new trend where old Arcade games get turned into films we will get Centipede, Astroid, Galaga maybe even some Dig Dug.  Film conoseiers will no doubt decry their precious cinemas being befouled with yet another shallow pedestrian trend from Hollywood but I for one will be sitting in the front row with my popcorn and smile on my face.
