Origins of Gorgilla are murky but he is speculated to be an experiment of the ancient Deviant race.

Scientists traced the humanities missing link to the island of Borneo.  The scientists collect the resources to launch expedition to the exotic island to locate physical remains of the missing link.  On the island the scientists encounter locals who recognize the creature the scientists are seeking.  The locals call the creature the "God of Vengeance who lives on Midnight Mountain." The locals also tell the scientists that the area where the creature lives is untouched by time.  The shocked scientists set off toward the area to confirm the locals stories and see this god of vengeance for themselves.  Inland they encounter the fierce Gorgilla who attacks the scientists.  Before Gorgilla can do much damage to the frightened scientists a giant Tyranasaurus Rex appears who attacks the group.  Gorgilla defends the humans from the Dinosaur.  Gorgilla defeats the Tyranasaurus Rex back and then collapses.  The scientists believe they could capture Gorgilla in his weakened state but instead decide to honor their defender and leave him in peace.

The Deviant warlord Kro managed to take control of Gorgilla using a mind control device and loaded him on a ship for New York City.  There Gorgilla esapes and while not trying to be hostile he is attacked by terrified humans.  He flees into the sewers before eventually scaling the Statue of Liberty before being shot dead.  People later realize that he was simply trying to communicate with them and not hostile at all.

Gorgilla appears alive and well in a X-Men story on the Monster Isle.  How he survived the attack at the Statue of Liberty is not explained.

Gorgilla goes on a time traveling adventure with Fantastic Four's Mister Fantastic whom Gorgilla refers to as"Man in the Blue Pajamas" and Zarko the Tomorrow Man.  He prevents John Wilkes Boothe from killing Abraham Lincoln and in doing so creates an alternative time line where he himself is President of the United States.  Eventually, the time line is set right by Mister Fantastic.

Gorgilla appears as part of Mister Fantastic's program to reform monsters and works at the Baxter Building.  There he helps prevent a microscopic warlord from conquering the world while working with other reformed monsters in the team called the Monstrous Four.

Who is Groot?

Who is Groot?  He is giant tree alien monster who loves Earth so much he wants to bring us all back to study.   Well at least that is how the character is first introduced in one of Marvel's early Monster books that made up the bulk of the early Marvel stories.  Overtime, he has evolved from a monstrous menace into a kind, intelligent hero.

First Appearance: Tales to Astonish #13

2nd Appearance:Where Monsters Dwell #6

Species: Planet X

Bio:
Yes, that is Cap's SHIELD

Groot is a member of the "Modern" Guardians of Galaxy a group of super heroes who bounce around space fighting off cosmic threats.

Groot starts off as a monstrous tree alien in the marvel universe.  He first appears as a menacing monster from the Planet X.  A heroic doctor manages to save the day by  killing Groot with mutant termites.  This saves the town from being hauled off to Planet X (Groots home planet) to be experimented on.  This likely sounds bizarre to most people, more like a Stephen King novel than a superhero story.  Groot you must understand is old and his origins go back before Spiderman and most of the Superhero Marvel Characters.  In the 1950s Marvel was primarily known for releasing Monster/ Romance and Western based stories. In the late 1950s Marvel release Fantastic Four one of its first superhero books after a long hiatus from the 1940 Captain America days.  The art/style/tone of Fantastic Four were widely different than what comic fans were used to  and comic fans went nuts! Fantastic 4 was a massive success! Suddenly, Marvel begins creating super hero books instead of Monster/Romance and Westerns.  The monsters books did not all go away and this is where you get Groot.  Marvel is still producing some of the books from their old genre, their old bread and butter.  Groot is published in 1960 at a time where Marvel is beginning to transition away from the Monsters and to the Superheros.  In that way he is kind of a Tony Soprano character who comes in at the end of an era. This is fitting because Groot is also the last of his race in the comics.

Groot can get BIG
After his initial monstrous appearance he comes back a few times once to battle the Hulk, once in Spiderman's nightmares.  Finally, decades after being introduced he begins to evolve into a hero in the book Howling Commandos.   Groot is captured by Shield and is added to a paranormal Shield group called the Howling Commandos.  The howling commandos are basically monsters given a chance to form a superhero team.  This is where he begins to evolve from a monster to a hero.

Groot makes his next big appearance as part of the Annihilation Conquest storyline.   He heroically  sacrifices himself to blow up a tower.  Rocket Raccoon saves a small part of Groot and Groot is able to regenerate from that small piece.  It must be nice to be a tree. From that time on Groot is in the Guardians of the Galaxy or as he likes to refer to the team "Groot and Branches."  By this time he is believed to be the last member of his race.  As he and Rocket Raccoon are the only members of their kind they become kindred spirits.

Groot constantly says "I am Groot."  This makes him seem stupid however he is actually extremely intelligent.  Perhaps, the most intelligent member of Guardians of the Galaxy by far infact.  He received a spectactular education through his elite royal household on his home world.  Its thought he may have had one of the finest educations in the universe.  This is explained by the Inhuman character Maximus Mad who is one of the few characters able to understand what Groot is actually saying.

The crazy genius Maximus the Mad asserts that when Groot says "I am Groot" he could actually be saying an innumerable amount of things.  The vocal restrictions of his larynx inhibit him from speaking more clearly and other species can not catch the subtleties of his speech.

Powers:
Very Strong and durable

Can control trees
Fire resistance
He can grow by sprouting which increases his size but limits his movement
He can regrow himself, regenerate from a small twig or cuttingHe has regenerated himself in this manner at least 3 times in the comics.

Remember:  I AM GROOT!

Movie:
Groot  appears in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie and is voiced by actor, Vin Diesel.  True to comic form Groot only says "I am Groot" in the film with one slight nuance at the end.

James Gunn has said that if Rocket Raccoon is the heart of the movie, then Groot is its soul.

The story begins in a remote village in Transylvanian is a wax museum called Vandoom.

Ludwig Vandoom has inherited the a wax museum from his father.  The was museum houses many supernatural wax statue attractions of monsters like the Werewolf, Dracula, the Mummy and Frankenstein.  The classic monsters statues have become dull to tourists and the local villagers and so business at the wax museum is waning.  Ludwig's wife is forced to work as a seamstress to pay the bills.  Ludwig concocts a plan to bring in new business to the museum.  He decides to create a massive new terrifying monster.

Ludwig says:
I shall build a new Wax monster - - One that will attract people from all over the world! How - ever there are no great new monsters in literature - - so I shall create my own.

Ludwig then sets out to make a massive wax monster.  He is not satisfied with a life sized monsters and begins to build a monster who's head will literally extend beyond that of the museum's roof.  Villagers begin to take notice of Ludwig's obsessive work habits and worry what he is doing at night with a light on.  When Ludwig cuts a hole in the museum's roof for the growing body villagers begin to freak out and ask Ludwig questions.  He refuses to answer any questions in the hopes that this creates more fear and wonder at what he is doing.  The terror of villagers reached an apex when spying inside the museum they caught sight of Ludwig Vandoom's hideous creation.  They began to form committees in order to shut down the project.  They were unsuccessful as Ludwig was building the attraction on his own property.

As Ludwig prepared to unveil his creation a lightning bolt struck and somehow turned the wax structure into a living breathing monster.  The monster tore through the museum and began to wreak havoc in the village.  The villagers attempt to attack the creature but are pushed back.  Then in a weird twist of fate.....aliens attack the village.  The aliens see the villagers as weak and think they can easily take over however they are then confronted by Vandoom's monsters who begins to crush them.  The aliens flee but not before exhausting the wax monster.  The villagers bury Vandoom monsters body in honor.  They then ask Ludwig to build another replica of the monster and this time they promise not to fight the project.  The new monster is built and is a great success people come from miles and miles to see the wax beast who defeated the aliens.  On story nights though Ludwig still worries about another stray lightning bolt that could make his monster come to life.

Vandoom appears a couple more times.  He appears as a monster in Peter Parker's dreams and is shown in the collection of the Collector.

Mole Man at one point raids the Collectors museum and frees the monsters there.  These monsters were beaten back the heroes Beast, Hulk, Giant-Man and the Thing.  Vandoom was beaten by the heroes and put in a prison in the Negative Zone.

Vandoom was freed from the Negative Zone and brought to the Monster Isles.  On the monster isles he was once again brought under the control of Mole Man and used to attack cities throughout the world.  This plot was foiled by the Fantastic Four.

Who is Loki?

Loki is a Marvel character based off the mythological Norse god of the same name.  Loki was a frost giant adopted by the Asir/Asgardian.   He is considered to be a god of lies and trickery. The primary Asir/Asgardian hero in the Marvel universe is Thor, who is Loki's Asir brother.  Loki is often considered to be Thor's Archenemy.  Loki was played to Tom Hiddleston in Thor, Thor 2 and the Avengers.  He is set to reprise his role in Thor 3, and Avengers the Infinity Gauntlet Part 1 and 2.

Alias: god of lies, god of evil

Odin is attacking the Jotunns (Frost giants) and slays their king Laufey in personal combat.  Inside, Laufey's stronghold Odin finds a small child (Asgardian sized).  It seems Laufey kept the child hidden due to his small size.  Odin adopts the child and raises him as his son alongside his biological son, Thor.

Overtime, Loki comes to resent Thor.  Thor adored by the Asgardian people for being strong, tenacious, brash and brave.  Loki is intelligent and cunning but these traits do not earn him throngs of admirers.  He begins to learn magic to compensate for his lack of physical strength and becomes a powerful sorcerer.  He meets and learns Black Magic from a sorcerer named Eldred.  For payment he tricks Eldred and send him to the fire demon, Surtuur.  Loki seems to have a natural inclination toward mischief and trickery and as he becomes an adult he earns the title of god of lies.

Loki sets his site on becoming the ruler of Asgard and sets in motion many schemes that are often stopped by Thor.  This includes releasing the storm giant Ghan.

As Thor becomes an Earth hero,  Loki becomes focused on the planet as well.  Loki likely does not care much about Earth other than the fact that Thor is interested in it.  One of his first schemes on Earth was an attempt to use the Hulk as a weapon against his brother.  This scheme ends with in disaster for Loki though as it unites a group of Earth's heroes into the force known as the Avengers.  This team along with his brother become constant thorns in his side.

His schemes on Earth often involve Loki indirectly manipulating a third party to due his bidding.  In such schemes he has used powerful agents that include, The Destroyer, Surtuur, Skagg, Mangog, Absorbing Man, Sandu, Molto the Lava Man, Zarrko, Mr Hyde, and Cobra.  These villains are repelled and defeated by a combination of Odin, Thor, The Warriors Three and the Avengers.

Eventually, Loki is successful in creating the event of Ragnarok where all the gods are slain and reborn.  He is reborn using the body of Sif.  It turns out his essence is simply hiding in this form and eventually he returns to his male form.

Who is King Ezekiel in the Walking Dead?

Ezekiel is a character in the Walking Dead who is the leader of a community called the Kingdom.  Ezekiel is known for fighting alongside Rick Grimes in the All Out War story as well as for his pet tiger, Shiva.  Actor Khary Payton has been hired to play Ezekiel in the show the Walking Dead.

First Appearance: The Walking Dead #108

Death: The Walking Dead #144

Monikers:  I have heard many people refer to Ezekiel as the Tiger Dude, Tiger guy etc.

Multi-Media:
King Ezekiel makes his first appearance in the premiere episode of Walking Dead Season 7.  Scenes by Khary Payton feature prominently in the episode.

Bio:
Ezekiel was a zookeeper prior to the zombie apocalypse.  At some point he may have also been an actor.   After the apocalypse Ezekiel uses one of the Tigers as a zoo named Shiva as a pet.  He and the tiger create a community of survivors that names Ezekiel as its leader.  He proclaims himself, King Ezekiel and calls the community the Kingdom.   Ezekiel has met and befriended with Paul Monroe from the Hilltop. He greatly despises Negan and the Saviors.  Ezekiel is the first to admit that he can be theatrical while acting as the king of the Kingdom.  He acts very confident but at certain times does become rattled and reveals insecurity.

Ezekiel has spent considerable amount of time gathering information on the Saviors and Negan whom he regards as a tyrant.  He has been accumulating on this information waiting for the proper time to strike.

Rick is brought to the community to meet with Ezekiel by Paul Monroe where the leaders of each community create an alliance to take down the Saviors.  Dwight a Savior mole is also there and joins in the pact with the other leaders.  Rick brought several people with him to Alexandria including Michonne.  Ezekiel immediately takes an interest into the warrior woman.  She initially scorns him but after a friendly and flirty chat begin to see each other romantically.

Eziekel later leads a group of Kingdom warriors and saves Alexandria from a siege by the Saviors.  The Kingdom force catches the Saviors force by surprise and saves the town.  Negan manages to escape this battle and Rick initially wants to give chase.  Ezekiel warns Rick away from this tactic though due to the Saviors still possessing superior numbers.  Ezekiel is highly impressed with Alexandria and comments that Rick greatly undersold the community.

Ezekiel leads a force first with Rick on an attack of the Savior stronghold of Sanctuary.  Later he splits off to take down a Savior base.  Ezekiel's attack ends disastrously and Shiva ends up being killed.   The battle between the Kingdom and Savior forces had lured over a massive horde of zombies who diverted the Saviors.  While the zombie horde allowed Ezekiel to escape he became trapped within the horde himself.  Shiva took down as many zombies as the tiger could but eventually was surrounded and killed by the zombies.

A grieving Ezekiel seeks comfort of Michonne.  He tells her about the disastrous attack, the loss of his men and of Shiva.  He tells her that he no longer wants to be a leader.  Michonne responds to this by punching him in the face and calling him a "Pussy".  She says that he is still being trusted by families in the Kingdom to lead and needs to man up and do so.  When Alexandria is attacked Ezekiel wants to flee but Michonne convinces him to stay and fight.

Ezekiel eventually agrees to bring all of his remaining survivors to the Hilltop where the three communities can gather their forces and avoid being taken out by the Saviors individually.  He fights alongside the survivors at the final battle at Hilltop.

Some time after All out War:
It is eventually revealed that Ezekiel and Michonne are having relationship difficulties.  Michonne leaves and goes out on her own and Ezekiel goes out to look for.  He runs into the Whispers, whose leader Alpha decapitates him.

When Michonne sees the head of Ezekiel she begins to cry, revealing that she still had feelings for him.

Carol and Morgan while battling Saviors came across another man who seemed to come from another community.  It is expected that this community is the Kingdom.

Actor Khary Payton was hired to play King Ezekiel in the show.  He was first shown in the trailer for Season 7 at San Diego Comic Con:

From Entertainment Weekly interview with Khary Payton was asked what it was like acting with nothing there at times to create Shiva.  Shiva is Ezekiel's pet tiger.

"It’s just another beautiful way that I get to use my imagination. As far as I’m concerned, Shiva’s as real as the people standing next to me — as Morgan or Carol or any of the other people who move among the Kingdom itself. So I really don’t think of it as CG or mechanic. All I know is that she’s real to me. I’ve done a lot of video games where there’s literally nothing standing in front of me. I’ve done, you know, a lot of voiceovers where there’s literally nothing standing in front of me, I’ve got to make it all up, so this is just another situation where my imagination gets to be used in another context, so no matter how good they bring it to life, it’s already alive in my head."

The United States Navy began receiving bizarre reports of a giant crustacean that was terrorizing islands in the South Pacific.  The destruction of the beast forces the Navy to take the reports of the monster seriously.  The islanders began to tell the US military that they suspected the creature was a legendary beast called Titano.  The further added that "When Titano rises from the deep, let the whole world beware." A special mission to destroy Titano is assigned to Commander Hartnell and his Submarine vessel.  He is ordered to use any means necessary to destroy Titano.

Hartnell tracks down Titano and has several battles with the massive beast.  In the early encounters Titano gets the better of the US Navy Submarine.  Hartnell hatches a plan to rid the world of Titano forever.  He gets Titano to follow his ship into the Artic ocean.  There he tricks Titano into going between two glaciers where he traps himself.

  • Super Strong - Not sure how strong relative to other monsters or heroes but was shown to have strength far surpassing a normal human.
  • Super Durable -
  • Can breathe underwater
  • Longevity - Titano is apparently a very old monster that is mentioned in ancient legends.
Weakness:

  •  Ice Bergs

Clea is from the Dark Dimension.  She is the daughter of Prince Orini and Umar.  Prince Orini is the legitimate ruler of the Dark Dimension who lost control due to the conquest of warlord DormammuUmar is Dormammu's sister. Her father Orini becomes a disciple of Dormammu he raises Clea.  Umar seems to lose all interest in Clea after giving birth to her.   Umar's bitterness toward her offspring is in part due to her losing the ability to revert to her energy Faltine form after giving birth.

When Doctor Strange enters the dark dimension Clea appears and warns him against fighting Dormammu.  For her betrayal she is imprisoned by the evil Faltine ruler.  Strange however forces Dormammu to release her.

For a time Clea is Strange's only friend and ally in the Dark Dimension.  After helping numerous times defeat Dormammu she returns with Strange to Earth.  On Earth, Strange trains her in the magical arts within the walls of his Sanctum Santorum  She becomes his prize pupil.  She is kidnapped by the zealot Silver Dagger.  Silver Dagger attempts to brain wash her and in the end she is rescued.   While on Earth Strange and Clea become romantically involved but she leaves, after believing Strange is more attracted to Morgana Blessing.

Back in the Dark Dimension she learns that her mother is Umar who is currently ruling the dimension.  She defeats Umar in battle after revealing to the populace that Umar cares little for them.  The faith of the people shifts to Clea and a reef of fire appears over her head called the "Flames of Regency".  With powers of the flames of regency Clea dispatches her mother in mystical combat and for a time rules the Dark Dimension.  Umar however asks for mercy and claims to have lost the battle from not wanting to hurt Clea.  Clea leaves for Earth with Strange and leaves her mother and her consort Baron Mordo in charge.

A short time later a Faltine named Flyxx appears on Earth and tells Clea that Umar has betrayed her.  This ended up being a trick as Flyxx was really Dormammu in disguise.  Dormammu took back control of the dimension and Clea remained there to lead a resistance against Dormammu.

Ghost Rider Movie Theme Song:
The Ghost Rider movies were far from perfect but one of my favorite things they did was integrate the old Ghost Riders in the Sky song with a new rock take.  The song appears in a scene were Ghost Rider climatically charges forward on his motorcycle along with the Phantom Rider riding a ghost horse at his side.  This was my favorite movement of both films and I like the version of the song.

Bios:

Johnny Blaze-
Johnny Blaze is a stunt motorcyclist who sells his soul to the demon Mephisto in order to save the life of his father.  Mephisto bonds Johnny with a demon named Zarathos a spirit of vengeance that reacts violently when in the presence of evil.  After being bonded with Zarathos, when Johnny comes near evil is dramatically transformed.  His flesh is replaced with blazing hot hellfire.  He can shoot the hellfire out of his skeletal like hands.  He also has a powerful motorcycle and a chain as weapons.  Ghost Rider uses these weapons to violently take down evil threats around them.  The brutality of Ghost Rider spirit causes Blaze great concern and at certain points in time he frees himself from its influence.

Blaze has been the Ghost Rider on and off again since his initial appearance.  He has also made appearances near later Ghost Riders as a mentor and ally.

Danny Ketch-
After his sister is wounded by a ninja gang, Danny finds a mystical Motorcycle imbued with a spirit of vengeance.  Danny transforms himself into Ghost Rider and takes vengeance on the gangsters.

Danny gets along with his spirit of vengance and does not fight its influence the way Johnny fought against Zarathos.  In the end of the series the spirit that Danny has teamed up with is revealed to be the Angel of Death /Judgement.

Danny Ketch appeared to die in his last comic of his run.  However, he has since been shown alive.

Robbie Reyes-

Robbie is a high school student in East Los Angeles.  He lives with his disabled brother Gabe.  The two brothers try to keep away from trouble and violence in their neighborhood.

Robbie enters a street race with a black charger.  He hopes that with the prize money he can move his family to better surroundings.  Unbeknownst to Robbie his car is carrying pills that have transformation properties made by the super villain Calvin Zabo (Aka Mr Hyde).  Mercenaries hunting for the pills gun down Robbie killing him.  Robbie is reborn as with a fiery skull, he drives off his car that is now also alight in flame.  Robbie is then introduced to his spirit of vengeance who is not a spirit of vengeance at all.  The spirit of a victim of gang violence named Eli Morrow has attached himself to Robbie's car.  This spirit then brought Robbie back as the Ghost Rider.

Eli and Robbie form a pact.  Eli will give Robbie the power to clean up his neighborhood so long as Robbie also helps Eli get vengeance on the gangsters that killed him.  The two take on the criminal enterprise of Calvin Zabo.

Johnny Blaze learns of the new Ghost Rider and meets with Robbie in Los Angeles.  Johnny warns Robbie that dealing with spirits of vengeance is rarely simple.  This later proves to be true.

Robbie learns that the spirit connected to him Eli Marrow was his serial killer uncle.  Eli had killed over 37 people in Satanic ritual killings.  Additionally, it was Eli who had tossed Robbie's pregnant mother down a flight of stair that had caused Gabe's disability.  The two battle for control of Robbie's body and eventually settle for a truce.  Robbie will allow Eli to kill people with his body so long as those people are evil.

Villains:

  • Black Heart - Son of Mephisto
  • Black Out - Lilin who at one point seeks to kills Ghost Rider's loved ones.
  • Lilith - Mother of Demons
  • Mephisto - Demon who is the Arch enemy of Johnny Blaze and responsible for Johnny being bonded to the demon Zarathos in the first place.
  • Calvin Zabo (Mr Hyde) - Mad scientist who is a primary villain of the Robbie Reyes Ghost Rider.

Powers:
Each Ghost Rider has shown to have a variety of supernatural powers, weapons and vehicles.

  • Super Strength
  • Super Durability
  • Super Healing
  • Ability to shoot fire from hands or head
  • Living chain weapons
  • Immunity to many spells/magic
  • Flaming Motorcycle/Car

In some stories is speculated that Ghost Rider could be one of the most Powerful heroes in the Marvel universe even capable of defeating the Hulk.  This is put partially to the test in World War Hulk in which the Hulk is met by Ghost Rider.

MCU Ghost Rider:

Agents of SHIELD began showing an emblem of a fire laced chain on its Season 4 promotions prior to San Diego Con 2016.  The show has a character named Hellfire that also uses a fire laced chain that initially was what fans thought the art meant.  However casting calls revealed that the show was looking for actors who would fit the part of Robbie Reyes and his brother Gabe Reyes.  Specifically, mention a Hispanic male who would be in a wheel chair similar to Gabe.  This has led to speculation that Agents of SHIELD may have been allowed to use the Robbie version of Ghost Rider.

Another thing that leads to Robbie appearing in Agents of SHIELD is that his origins are tied to the villain Calvin Zabo who was established as a character in Season 2 of Agents of SHIELD as Skye/Quake's father.

Actor Gabriel Luna has been confirmed to be playing Robbie Reyes AKA Ghost Rider in Agents of SHIELD.  A picture has been released of Gabriel in the Robbie Reyes driving suit.

The Ghost Rider has been confirmed to have a supernatural origin explainable by science.

In an interview with Collider actor Gabriel Luna revealed more facts about the Robbie Reyes version of Ghost Rider that Agents of SHIELD is bringing to TV.  He addressed the differences of the Robbie Reyes version of Ghost Rider with the previous iterations of Johnny Blaze and Danny Ketch.  The Johnny Blaze is currently those most well known do to having multiple movies and being played by actor Nicholas Cage.  Unlike the Johnny Cage version Robbie drives a car and not a motor cycle.  Luna went a little deeper on how the curse of Ghost Rider is different.

"Previous incarnations of the character are men who usually have a pretty decent life, to start out. Johnny Blaze is a famous Hollywood stuntman. Danny Ketch is not doing too bad to start with. And then, the Ghost Rider becomes this really heavy curse on them. Robbie is in an inverted position there. He had some hardships early in his life, and the Ghost Rider actually becomes an empowering thing. While it’s still difficult to deal with and very much a curse, he had some f*cked up shit going on before Ghost Rider ever came about."

On Ghost Rider having a supernatural and a non science origin Luna told Collider:

"That’s a huge wild card to throw into the mix. We’re starting to toe the line and inch towards some ground that hasn’t been covered, but that is a huge part of the books themselves and the entire Marvel universe and the canon of Marvel’s assortment of characters. What we haven’t touched on are things that can’t be explained perfectly by science. It’s a lot of really fun stuff that starts to lean into the world of Doctor Strange, Ghost Rider and Mephisto, and all of these other elements that also exist there, like ghouls and goblins and all sorts of cool things. We’re happy to be the ones to break the ice on that."

On Special Effects being used to bring Ghost Rider to life Gabriel Luna told Collider:

"Last season, Brett [Dalton] transformed into Hive and it was a really amazing effect that he did. I remember watching it on television and thinking how great it was. We’re using a lot of the same technology for my character. He took the Hive head off and put the Ghost Rider head on, and I thought, 'Wow, that’s great! It looks finished.' But, it wasn’t. A couple days ago, he showed me the finished version, and it’s really exciting to see. It moves and it thinks. There’s a lot of characterization in the face. He took care to preserve my performance in a bare bones skull. I’m thankful for that and I’m absolutely over the moon for people to see it. I think they’re going to be happy."

Star Wars Rogue One film - News, Art, Trailers and Casting

Rogue One is a stand alone film set in the Star Wars universe that focuses on a group of rebels who steal the plans for the Deathstar.  The film is said to have a darker and more militarized tone than its Star Wars peers.  The film is a one shot and does not have any planned sequels.

Rogue One: Gillete Commerical
This commerical is pretty cool.  Its like is own little micro story.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Trailer #2

This really feels like a Sam Adams rebellion fomenting movie and I dig it.

Trailer 2 released at 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio:

Darth Vader, seen here in the new Rogue One trailer.

Despite whatever issues have caused reshoots to happen the film's trailers are showing no problems.  Many are saying they like the Rogue One trailer more than the Force Awakens trailer.

This trailer highlights many more of the ragtag band like Donnie Yen's character Chirrut Imwe.  Chirrut is a blind warrior who seems to be able to feel the Force.   There are scenes that focus on Diego Luna's and Forrest Whitaker's character.   Also a general reveal of the time with the empire expanding all over the galaxy.

What will likely cause the most tongues to wag though is a brief glimpse of Darth Vader.  Another international version of the Trailer was also released.

Official Synopsis:
From Lucasfilm comes the first of the Star Wars standalone films, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, an all-new epic adventure. In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire’s ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is directed by Gareth Edwards and stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, with Jiang Wen and Forest Whitaker. Kathleen Kennedy, Allison Shearmur and Simon Emanuel are producing, with John Knoll and Jason McGatlin serving as executive producers. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story opens in U.S. theaters on December 16, 2016.

A further description is provided in a press release by Kathleen Kennedy
“Rogue One takes place before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope and will be a departure from the saga films but have elements that are familiar to the Star Wars universe,”...  “It goes into new territory, exploring the galactic struggle from a ground-war perspective while maintaining that essential Star Wars feel that fans have come to know. Gareth Edwards is such an innovative director and I’m so excited to be working with him and the extraordinary ensemble cast he’s selected for Rogue One.”
Cast:
Felicity Jones
Diego Luna
Ben Mendelsohn
Donnie Yen
Jiang Wen
Forest Whitaker
Mads Mikkelsen
Alan Tudyk
Riz Ahmed

Problems and Reshoots:
6-7-2016 Latino Review has revealed that the film is undergoing extensive reshoots with a new director.   The studio initially said that the reshoots were to add in scenes surrounding a major character.   However, sources for Latino Review state that up to 50 percent of the film could be up for reshots an extremely large amount of film given its release date in 6 months.

Is interesting that director Gareth Edwards is not involved with the reshoots.  Unconfirmed rumors have said he is livid about the reshoots.

This could simply be Disney being extremely protective of its Star wars license and not want anything less than the best to be released.   For many fans though there is a worry that the film will plagued by similar issues as those that befell the distarous Fantastic Four.

One report from a reddit user named KeepR1dark claims to have inside information and says reshoots are because Disney feels the film is too dark and scary for children.   The primary reshoots according KeepR1dark are from a scene where Darth Vader brutally terrors through a Rebel unit.   The scene was meant to horror elements to emphasize Vaders badness.

KeepR1dark Quote-
In a night scene Vader absolutely lays waste to a Rebel ground Squad.  Unfortunately this is one of the scenes we need to water down.   We made it like something from the old slasher/horror films.    Rebel soldiers who joked about a boogie man with magical powers and then minutes later are absolutely wasted.
There is actually a scene much like this in the comic Vader Down.   I'm not sure I'd either influenced the other but it is possible.  The Vader Down comic chronologically takes place at a different time after New Hope IV.

  • Were there any plot or character pitfalls Cullen wanted to avoid? You have to be careful when you deal with monsters like this. He didn't want the monsters to come across as jokes. Some of them are humorous at times and they have personalities, but the most important thing was that the readers take these creatures seriously.

  • How is Cullen gearing himself to the artist's strengths? When he wrote the scripts, he didn't necessarily write one issue thinking "this is a Greg Land issue, this is a Kubert issue." He did talk with them to see which monsters each artist gravitated towards, so it was mostly about giving them the monsters they were most excited to draw.

Wonder Woman movie (2017) - Trailers, Pictures, News

Wonder Woman was first introduced to the DC film Universe in the movie Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice.  She then is set to get her own film in 2017.

Release Date: June 2, 2017

Director: Patty Jenkins

Cast:
Gal Gadot - Wonder Woman
Chris Pine - Steve Trevor
Robin Wright - General Antiope
Connie Nielsen - Queen Hippolyta
Lucy Davis- Etta Candy
Elena Anaya -
David Thewlis -
Samantha Jo -
Lisa Loven Kongsli -
Danny Huston - (Likely Ares)

The Main Villain:
Many villains have been mentioned / rumored to appear in the film but after the trailer they seem to be settling on a couple of major villains.

The main villain has been  rumored to be Ares.  Which makes sense as the god of War would fit in well with the WW2 setting.   I believe the General that appears in the trailer played by Danny Huston is Ares.

There is also this woman played by Elena Anaya who has a cracked Poreclian like face.  This could be the villain Circe.

Official Trailer:
The official trailer for Wonder Woman is amazing.  I especially love the scenes with Lasso being unleashed and also the slow motion bullet being pulverized by her gauntlets.

Comic Con Trailer:
The first trailer for Wonder Woman was released at San Diego Comic Con 2016.  The trailer stood out at the jam packed con for being one of the best.  Going into the trailer many were feeling down on the DC Film Universe after the lackluster response from Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice.  The hugely positive response from the Wonder Woman trailer seemed to instantly give the DC Film Universe a much needed jolt.

Some criticism came at the trailer for depicting WW1 vehicles in what appeared to be a film set in WW2.  This criticism was minor.

Who is Riri Williams?
Riri Williams is a hero in the Marvel universe.  A young genius at the age of 15 she was able to design her own version of the Iron Man suit and began her heroic career.

Real Name: Riri Williams

Alias:  Ironheart

First Appearance: Invincible Iron Man #7 (Vol 2 May 2016)

Riri Williams News:

Riri Williams Multi-Media:

Bios

Riri Williams grew up with her mother and sister.  Her father died prior to her birth.  A certified genius at the age of 15 she accepted a full ride scholarship to MIT.  There Riri began a project to engineer her own version of the Iron Man suit.   She began to create her own version of the
Iron Man Model 44 armor.  While not the latest suit it was still very advanced.  Riri fashioned the suit from parts she scrounged / stole from MIT's campus.  Campus security began pursing Riri for the stolen materials, and to escape Riri donned her Iron Man suit prototype and flew away.

While practicing flying maneuvers Riri saw a truck piloted by escaping convicts.  She out flew the truck and flipped it over.  Allowing for the convicts to be recaptured.  However the stress on the suit was enough for it to cause a debilitating fracture.

Riri returned home rather than go back to college which caused her mother great consternation.  She works at repairing and improving the suit.  Seeing his technology in action Stark became curious and tracked down Riri.  She tells him of her desire to become a hero and he agrees to support her.

Riri Willaims begins to fight as a hero using the name of Ironheart.

Cover Controversy:
A variant cover of Riri Williams for the new Invincible Iron Man was done by popular cover artist J. Scott Campbell.  Campbell's cover drew controversy due to its sexualization of the character that is only 15 years old.  Campbell responded that he drew the character based off a similar look on a different cover.  While not officially doing a new cover Campbell did a new cover that seemed to meet what the critics had wanted.

Villains:

Powers:
Like Tony Stark Riri WIlliams is a mechanical genius but does not possess any true super powers beyond her intelligence.  However, Riri does where a suit similar to the Iron Man suit that gives her numerous abilities.

With Iron Heart suit:

  • Super Strength
  • Super Durability
  • Super Speed - via jet propulsion
  • Flight
  • Energy Blasts

    MCU:
So far there are no hints of Riri Williams in the MCU.  She is a very new character.

    Man-Thing Easter Eggs

Man-Thing  is a character at Marvel very similar to Swampthing.  There is some controversy as creators of both characters at one point in time were roommates.  Man-Thing is considered to have been created first.  There is a Man-Thing movie (2006) it is Turrrrrrible.
The rights of Man-Thing are likely to revert back to Marvel relatively soon and Marvel seems to be paving the path for the character to have a place in its cinematic universe.   There have been a few interesting Man-Thing easter eggs.

I have seen 3 Manthing Easter Eggs
    1 in Agents of SHIELD
    1 in Iron Man 3
    1 in Thor 2

Agents of SHIELD Manthing Easter Egg
In the Agents of SHIELD episode "Nothing Personal" Maria Hill is discussing being asked questions by Congress after SHIELD "implodes."  One of the questions she says she was asked by Congress was:

"Who or what is a Manthing"

Iron Man 3 Manthing Easter Egg
Manthings treacherous girl friend makes an appearance, well maybe more than an appearance.

There is another Man-Thing Easter Egg in Ironman 3 that is more obscure.  One of the extremis soldiers a woman who goes by the name of Ellen Brandt has a scar on her face.  This is pretty clearly a reference to Man-Thing 's girl freind in the comic who has the same name.
In the comic origins of Manthing Ted Sallis a scientist who becomes Man-Thing has a girl friend named Ellen Brandt.  When he becomes Man-Thing , he accidentally burns her face.  Man-Thing emits a burning acid with his touch.  She kind of deserved as she betrayed him leading to a bunch of people dieing and Sallis becoming transformed into a swamp monster.

Did you wonder how she received that scar?

Man-Thing is one of many characters who is tied into the superhero serum that was used to create Captain America. Ted Sallis was experimenting on the serum through Project Gladiator and when feeling pressured to show progress he injects himself with it.  The serum turns Sallis into the monster / anti-hero Man-Thing .  Man-Thing burns his girl friend's face then flees deep into the  Louisiana swamps.

She's already done the tango with Manthing
    Thor 2- Manthing Easter Egg
There is one more Manthing Easteregg.  In the comics Manthing guards a portal to important place called the Nexus of all realities.  The Nexus of All realities is mentioned on a chalk board behind Dr. Selvig.  It is on the bottom of the Chalkboard see below:

What does mean for Marvel's cinematic universe?

From Marvels Easter eggs it seems that project Gladiator may have been controlled by SHIELD or at the very least they are aware of its outcome...Man-Thing .

Ellen Brandt could have either been involved with Gladiator or found Extremis as a means of recovery from Man-Thing 's acid.  Perhaps Killian's Extremis project was even tied somehow to project Gladiator.  I believe they showed plants being experimented on in Ironman 3.  The plants in AIM lab could be another subtle wink toward Man-Thing 's origin.

It is possible that Manthing guards the Nexus of all realities like his comic counterpart.

The last episode of Agents of SHIELD featured some awesome scenes including a slugfest between the super strong Inhuman Director or SHIELD and even a mysterious appearance of another new Ghost Rider.  Here is what Sir Kent our guest blogging film critic thought of the firey episode.

Review of Agents of SHIELD Season 4 Episode 6:

    #sirkentsaid#toylad#agentsofsheild

Before I get into this week's KICK-ASS episode of A.O.S. I thought I would nit-pick a little. You know how much I love to do that. The brief and expected face off between Director Mace (Jason O’Mara) showed a few things to us. The budget for the T.V. version of this Ghost Rider severely limits his ass-kickery. And it also showed the strength level of the director's INHUMAN super strength ability.

I kinda guessed that his strength level was nowhere near that of any of Inhuman The Royal Family and probably closer to Jessica Jones. Able to lift somewhere around 5-10 tons. He was also limited by his unwillingness to believe that Robbie's power's were of a supernatural basis and not Inhuman. Since all Ghost Riders have the same abilities, Robbie can life 20-25 tons. He can instantly heal from any wound and can even regenerate his skull if it is ever smashed.

As in how The Hulk did it when they fought. Also, if you should be…”Lucky” enough to defeat a Ghost Rider, the actual demon, Zarathos, who is the demonic living embodiment of vengeance where
The Ghost Rider's power comes from, immediately takes over the body...AT HIS FULL STRENGTH! So now you're talking about 40-50 tons and size manipulation to boot! So...did you win? Or did you actually REALLY F'BEEP UP?

Having said all that, the fight played out about as well as it could have on the small screen. I STILL wait to see Robbie use his chains more and I want to see the ‘69 Charger become more of a player. This week's episode left some fairly big questions. Like, when Eli Marrow (Jose Zuniga) set off the device, did he absorb everyone in the area? More importantly, did he absorb Robbie as well?  COULD he absorb a Ghost Rider in such a manner? More importantly, if he has, who the f'BEEP is going to stop him?

Sir Kent Review of the previous episode The Ghost

As you can tell by the gif, this week's episode of AOS made me drink. Sometimes good, sometimes bad.

Now, like I do with most of my reviews, let's dig into what I DID NOT LIKE. This new Director thing bugs me. Where did this guy come from and how the f'BEEP could they ever pass over Agent Maria Hill as the new director?!?! I SAY THEE NAY! (Like how I worked in  some Asgardian?) I mean other than Hawkeye and The Black Widow, she has been by director Fury's side from the start! Nobody can replicate that kind of experience.

SERIOUSLY? Did Nick Fury have no say in who filled the void??? And so now Coulson is just a VERY senior field agent? Not even the right hand of this new, pretty-boy director? If Hill comes back as a f'BEEPin’ villian because of this, they f'BEEPin’ deserve it!

In all of this, the one person I TRULY DO NOT envy is Jemma. Her heart was in the right place grabbing at a position that would allow her some sway over this new version of SHIELD. However I kinda think she got it because this new director doesn't see her as a threat. Plus, how f'BEEPin’ long do you think May is going to continue to take orders from her before she reminds her who the Hell she's talking to? Okay, I think I'm done with dislikes.

What I did like about last night's episode? Let's take it from the top. Best line

Coulson - Look forward to seeing May

Mack - I think you look more forward to it more than I do

On Yo-Yo.  I did not know if this character would be brought back or not.
Seeing Yo-Yo again was nice. Seeing how hot she is for Mack was VERY nice! I do love an aggressive woman and she is going to shag the living shit out of Mack!  She adds some personal relationships with Mack and is also in a interesting position as a go between with Quake/Daisy and the rest of her former team.

Secrets  and Rules to Keep Secrets
To Hell with the rules! It's unfortunate that the agency tends to force you to keep secrets from loved ones. Poor Fitz having to keep the secret of this new AIDA cyborg from Simmons is killing him. He just needs more time to see it finished and maybe field tested. I must go in record now and say, Am I the ONLY person who See's “Ultron: Attack of the sexy cyborgs” happening here? Do the math.

She was created by Radcliffe as a means to save lives by “Mimicking” humans in order to protect them. That as sounds great. Probably will go great the first few times. But what's to keep her from one day “Mimicking” a human's desire to survive? Then in the heat of battle being all like “F'BEEP YO’ COUCH, EDDIE MURPHY!

I ain't goin’ out like that!”? Ultron, all over again, only sexy. I sayeth woe be that day indeed. (More Asgardian for you I am really getting ready Thor Ragnarok).

    FINALLY,......give me a drum roll................

The Ghost Rider entrance.......went off like BOOM!!!!!

I have to say, much like a lot of you, I had a serious concern about how on a T.V. budget, they would make Ghost Rider look convincing. This new version of  The Rider with the car instead if the motorcycle just seems to fit. His transformation into The Rider was done very well. The only thing that was missing was his chain. Which I'm sure we will see soon enough.

I am curious to see what it is in this box he is hunting. The gun running repu...I meant white supremacist are a happy by-product of what The Rider is truly after. Whatever was let out of that box is of a supernatural basis and he knows he has to kill it. Unfortunately for everyone at SHIELD base, it seems to have gotten a hold of May. And THAT could only mean they are in for a very bad day! If she turns on the SHIELD crew due to this ghost box then all hell is going to break loose!

All in all, I look forward to meeting this new director. Hopefully having him killed off (By a possessed May) and finding out exactly what this evil spirit is.

Plus WHERE THE HELL IS DEATHLOK??? Ghost Rider vs Deathlok would be something I would love to see.

    Who is Agamotto?

Agamotto is an entity within the Marvel Universe.  He is one of the three powerful entities known as the Vishanti from whom Doctor Strange draws much of his powers and knowledge of magic from.  He is generally considered to be benevolent.

    Alias:  Agamotto the all seeing

    First Appearance: Strange Tales #115

     http://static.comicvine.com/uploads/original/10/102894/1893529-1293003_vishanti_agamotto_galactus06_super.jpg

     Origins:
Agamotto claims that his origins go back to the beginning of Earth.   He is a non physical, non corporeal entity that was born from an entity called Oshtur around 10 million years ago.  He becomes a magical defender of the Earth dimension and helps protect it early on from Dormammu.   In this role as protector of Earth he is sometimes referred to as the first Sorcerer Supreme.

At some point Agamotto works with the human sorcerers of Earth to select a single powerful sorcerer to act as the world's Sorcerer Supreme.  Agamotto then bestows various magical artifacts to the Sorcerer Supreme.  These artifacts include the : Eye of Agamotto, Orb of Agamotto and the Book of the Vishanti.

Agamotto is part of the group known as the Vishanti and often appears with the other Vishanti being Hoggoth and Oshtur.  Oshtur is the elder goddess of the Earth and the mother of Agamotto.  The 3 Vishanti are benevolent omnipotent forces that are often opposes by other powerful entities.  The group of entities that counter the Vishanti are the Trinity of Ashes.  The Trinity of Ashes is made up of evil entities that includes Griefsavor, Ygmlosvorraich, and Mother of Pain.  Very little is known about these other 3 entities.  The Vishanti and the Trinity of Ashes face off in a ritualized 5 thousand year war called the War of the Seven Spheres.

The power level of Agamotto is extremely high.  It is thought that his power is greater than Hoggoth and Oshtur combined even though he is the spawn of Oshtur.  He has also been shown dealing with other cosmic entities such as Galactus and Dormammu.

    Appearance:
Agamotto can take on any appearance and tends to take on something from the mind of those he is meeting.  He has appeared as a Lion, Tiger, and as the giant caterpillar from Alice and Wonderland.

    Personality:
The personality of Agamotto greatly varies from formal, to informal, to glib, to threatening, to silly, indifferent and even hostile.  The varied personality is sometimes thought as testing the Sorcerer Supreme in various guises.
Generally Agamotto seems to care about the well being of all universes and for helping the forces of good overcome evil.  If he did not then the world would have very quickly been overtaken by Dormammu.

    Doctor Strange Store:
Toylab is a member of the Amazon affiliate program and as such is thrilled to bring you these amazing deals on Doctor Strange products through Amazon.

    MCU:
Agamotto is mentioned numerous times in Doctor Strange as the first Sorceror Supreme.  The Eye of Agamotto which is revealed to be the time infinity stone is also heavily featured.
At one point Wu says that Agamotto was the one who created the Eye of Agamotto.
