BARRY AND TEAM TRAVEL TO GORILLA CITY AND FACE GRODD - When Jesse Quick (guest star Violett Beane) informs the team that her father (Tom Cavanagh) has been abducted, Barry (Grant Gustin), Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker), Cisco (Carlos Valdes) and Julian (Tom Felton) voyage to Earth-2 on a rescue mission to save Harry from Gorilla City. As they trek through the forest, Barry and the team are immediately captured and brought to Grodd (voiced by David Sobolov). Grodd tells them he needs their help to stop Solovar (voiced by Keith David), the leader of Gorilla City, as Solovar wants to invade Earth-1. Meanwhile, back on Earth-1, Jesse and Kid Flash (Keiynan Lonsdale) hit the streets to stop a metahuman that can control gravity, with H.R. and Joe (Jesse L. Martin) guiding them from S.T.A.R. Labs. Dermott Downs directed the episode with story by Andrew Kresiberg and teleplay by Aaron Helbing & David Kob (#313). Original airdate 2/21/2017.
Bio:
When a meteor (Or in the old version a space ship) crashes in Africa a tribe of Gorillas is transformed and gains human level of intelligence. Two of the Gorillas gain super intelligence beyond the others. Solovar who gains extreme powers in mind control and mind transference and Grodd. Grodd is not quite as powerful as Solovar. Solovar becomes the leader of the group and the Gorillas build a city called Gorilla City.
Grodd is not happy about being #2 and seeks the means of ridding himself of Solovar. When human explorers enter Gorilla City, Grodd sets in motion a plan to take over the city with hopes of then conquering the world. Solovar reaches out telepathically to Barry Allen the Flash who rushes to the rescue.
Flash is uniquely able to defeat Grodd because his mind works at such a fast speed that the illusions and mind control elements of Grodd are too slow to work.
Grodd goes on to battle the Flash again and again with different schemes. He has joined multiple groups of Super Villains and also has had numerous schemes that would have wiped out all humanity if successful.
He eventually develops the means to transfer his mind to other bodies and begins to operate in various human bodies.
New 52:

Flash lands in Gorilla City after first entering the Speed Force. Grodd had just made himself King of the city. Flash manages to escape Grodd who wants to kill him, when a building collapses on him and renders him unconscious. Flash's escape is a short lived victory however as Grodd attacks Central City with an army of Gorilla soldiers and takes it over. He proclaims himself to be King of the City and renames it Gorilla City.
Powers:
Grodd has the physical strength and speed of a mature Gorilla.
Mental powers: Mind control, creating illusions, mind transference, telekinetic force beams and even telekinetic transmutation of matter.
Brains! In recent stories Grodd has been able to gain the memories of humans by eating their brains.
