What if.......
(que disturbing music)
There is a massive WAR coming in the game of Pokemon Go. Those Pokemon you are training will be your weapons and keys to survival in a global battle between....the Pokemon Teams! The Pokemon Teams each have a different view of the world and so far their conflict is confined to gyms but in the upcoming war it will spill out everywhere. When the dust settles only one Team will be left standing. Many will die and the world a shell of its former self.
Does that sound pretty dramatic? I really was going for dramatic. To some of you that scenario may sound far fetched but there is actually a mounting level of evidence that some kind of war will occur in the world of Pokemon Go.
Why is this? Well the Pokemon Go War Argument hinges on three premises.
1) Chronologically Pokemon Go is set to prior to the games of Red and Blue, but after the advent of the modern Pokeball. This is a pretty tight window of time. Meaning that Pokemon Go is effectively right before Red and Blue.
2) The World of Pokemon Go is fairly different than that of Red and Blue indicating that a major event occurs between the two games resulting in a change of status quo.
3) A War is mentioned at occurring within 5-10 year span prior to Pokemon Red and Blue putting it chronologically in the time frame of Pokemon Go.
In Conclusion: If Pokemon Go is set just before Pokemon Red and Blue and a War occurred just prior to Pokemon Red and Blue then a war occurs between the two games, and may still occur as an event in Pokemon Go.
I don't want to go into all of the evidence of those three premises here but I will lay out some major evidence that something like this is being planned for the game.
The character connections!
What if were to tell you that two of the characters in Pokeomon Go appear in the other games as older versions of themselves. Both characters who I will mention are older and grizzled in the other games indicating that Pokemon Go comes prior to the other games. Not only that but one of these characters is also the one that mentions a War occurring in the other games. This indicates that the characters that appear in Pokemon Go went through something major (A War) before they appear in the other games. Keep in mind that there are only 4 characters in Pokemon Go at this point Professor Willow, Spark, Blanche, and Candella and I think 2 of them (half of them) appear in later games.
(Actually thinking I might be able to find one more character connection A WORK IN PROGRESS)
Professor Willow is Pryce the Winter Trainer
Professor Willow is a key character in the Pokemon Go game he is actually the first person who you meet. You also continually contact him anytime you transfer a Pokemon. Professor Willow bears a striking similarity to a character named Pryce who appears in the games (Gold, Silver, SoulSilver, Heart Gold, Black, White and Pokemon Puzzle Challenge).
Reasons why Willow is Pryce.
First, the two look alike provided you assume that Pryce is the older version of Professor Willow.
The two even strike a similar pose in their images with each holding up a Pokeball.
Second, Pryce tells a weird and out of place fact about himself in Soul Silver / Heart Gold. In this game he reveals that his middle name is actually Willow. Not only does he reveal this once but he later reiterates it. This is pretty interesting because the tree based names like Oak / Willow are used for Professors in the Pokemon Games. At the time gamers took this line to strongly hint at Pryce being a former Poke Professor in the game. This was something never really followed up in later Pokemon games until......Pokemon Go where a Professor Willow appears.
Quotes from Pryce In Soul Silver and Heart Gold
- When last Pokémon is at critical health
- "Willow is my middle name. Willow is flexible and not easily broken. I'm not giving up yet."
- "Yes, this is Pryce. How are you doing? Do you know why they call me the winter Trainer? Do you recall that my middle name is “Willow”? The willow tree looks like it withers in winter’s cold. But really, it sprouts dozens of new buds. My fighting style is also strong just like that... It’s written in old books, you know. You should look it up sometime."
Pryce also indicates that he has undergone a hard life with lots of trauma. He says he has suffered much in life. He does not elaborate on what caused this suffering but it is possible that he lived through a traumatic war. It also appears that whatever caused Pryce to have suffered it has not yet happened to his younger Professor Willow self. Professor Willow seems very optimistic and happy.
Pokemon Gold and Silver before battling Pryce says:
Pokémon have many experiences in their lives, just like we do. I, too, have seen and suffered much in my life. Since I am your elder, let me show you what I mean. I have been with Pokémon since before you were born. I do not lose easily. I,Pryce--the winter trainer-- shall demonstrate my power!"
Why did Professor Willow change professions? Perhaps he became a leader in the war using Pokemon to battle and at that point could not go back to being academic. Another thought is that he might be atoning for something he did during the war and as a gym leader is helping bring up a new generation of Pokemon leaders.
Spark is Surge

Surge looks like an older Spark. Many fans have noticed this as the two are the most prominent blonde characters in Pokemon lore. The two may actually be the only blonde characters?
Both characters like Electric Pokemon.
Both are kind of meat heads but also not evil. They both show a natural or instinctual form of battling.
Both are leaders one of a Team and the other of the Electric Gym.
Team Instinct is yellow and their mascot is an electric pokemon.
Spark's name is another way of saying electricity. While Surge (also an electric name) is leader of the Electric Pokemon Gym.
Also once again on top of looking a like both strike a similar pose in their main images:

Many fans have noticed the similarity between the two characters. There is even a set of fan made comics depicting Surge as Spark's uncle. This familial connection would assume that Surge is older than Spark. However, if you take off 10 years from Surge to put in the time frame of Pokemon Go they would be the same age.
The Similarities exist because they are the same person. What would Spark look like if he went through a war on the front lines. Grew a few years older during the war and became a more beefy as soldier.
Answer - He would look like Surge.
Also consider that Spark represents an electrical beginning and Surge represents an electrical continuation. Maybe he changes his name during the war to the more serious sounding Surge.

What makes Surge an interesting choice as a character is that he is THE character that mentions the Pokemon War:
LT. Surge:
“Hey kid! What do you think you’re doing here? You won’t live long in combat!
That’s for sure! I tell you what kid, electric Pokèmon saved me during the war!”
