The DC Films are set in the DC Extended Universe. This is a shared universe of super hero films produced by Warner Brothers off of the characters DC Comics. The first film released in the DC Extended Universe was Man of Steel in 2013, which was followed by Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016. Suicide Squad followed in 2016, and Wonder Woman in 2017.
Wonder Woman so far has recieved the most critical praise of all the DC Films.
Justice League a film that will bring together the major DC heroes is set to be released in 2017. Future planned films in the DC Extended Universe include Aquaman (2018), Shazam (2019), Wonder Woman 2 (2019), Cyborg (2020), Green Lantern Corps (2020).
Other films that have been rumored or are in some stage of production include a Batman film, Batgirl Gotham City Sirens, Harley Quinn and Joker duo film, Suicide Squad 2, Nightwing, Deadshot, Lobo, Black Adam, Superman 2, Justice League Dark, Flashpoint, and Justice League 2.
